Personal Narrative Essay: The End Of The School Bus

Improved Essays

Statistically the more you drive the more chances you have of being involved in a horrible accident as the bus falls off the freeway into the LA river. Some people call it irrational fear, but is it really irrational if statistics back me up?

There are many things I’ve learned from taking the bus to school, such as time management. If I had to stay after school it had to be worth it, because otherwise I’d have to come home at 7 PM and start doing my homework and study at that time instead. Independence is something that I needed to learn how to do, since I was the one who had to wake myself up before everyone else and serve myself breakfast in the morning. All these traits are because of my 8 years of taking public transportation to school, and I wouldn’t trade them for

At 6 a.m. every morning, the deafening tone of my alarm would signal the beginning of a new day. My morning routine sticks to the same monotonous schedule: a shower, getting dressed, a small breakfast, and a short drive to school. Most mornings, that five minute drive is nothing more than a mundane fraction of my day. But what I never consider is what these five minutes represent, which is the independence that I worked so hard for. If you ask anybody about their first car, you will only hear countless stories and fond memories, no matter how old or rusty their car was.…
