John's Short Story: The Earth Is Flat

I’ve been told the ground is flat, yet we live on a round planet. I’ve also heard that the planet is flat. Esperanza describes her name as being an awful name with too many letters to her sounding boring, yet saying that it has a beautiful meaning; “hope” a very unique way to describe a name I would say. My grandmother's name is also Esperanza, which makes me wonder if my grandma might have shunned her name at some point…

Thomas L. Friedman in his book titled, “The World Is Flat” does not give a speculative preview of the wonders that are to come in our lifetime. But rather to get us caught on the wonders that are already here. That is, his view is that the world is not going to be flat; rather, it is already flat. In an own opinion, what he means by “flat” is the connectedness. For instance, the lowering of trade and political barriers together with the exponential technical developments made up of the digital revolution that has made it possible to do business on a common ground.…

As a person who has only attened two other plays in their life, people might call me “unqualified” to review a play; these people are wrong. My qualifications for play review come solely from an “excess” amount of musicals listened to, pirated videos, and animatics watched on youtube. Seeing Guys and Dolls live was a great experience as a whole, and I enjoyed myself throughly. Understandably there were a few things that I disagreed with, so I will nitpick and pretend that my qualifications alone make me justified to critique a play that no doubt took alot of effort, stress, and love to make.…

Part A For my cultural experience I went to Creekside Manor nursing home in Belews Creek, NC. I’ve lived by this nursing home, along with others, for a while and never even thought to visit. I decided to visit a nursing home because I’ve experienced being the minority in other ways; being in a school with predominately African-Americans and Hispanics, international festivals, a religious congregation differing from my own beliefs and been in situations where my sexuality wasn’t accepted. Out of all the experiences I’ve had visiting a nursing home hasn’t been one.…
