I wrote down the most tragic thing to ever happen to me in my diary when I was only nine years old. I had been home alone with my ninety-year-old great grandmother, who I called Juju, for the night while my grandmother and aunt went to a business dinner. She told me she was going to bed so I decided to watch television in the living room on the other side of the house. As the night went on, I heard this weird, eerie, tapping noise and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. I was scared and nervous that someone was breaking into the house so I decided to stay in the living room and hide myself. It took me a while to get the courage to see where the noise was coming from but, when I finally found the tapping, my whole night changed. …show more content…
She told me that the more I write, the better I will be. I wrote about seeing snow for the first time and I described the icy cold feeling of building a snowman. I described the adventure of dog sledding down a steep mountain and the cold breeze I felt while I was ice fishing. Who else can say they went to Alaska and kept a journal about everything they did when they were thirteen? My grandmother made me realize that the best part of documenting your vacations and special moments is that you can relive them whenever you want. Just turn to any page and you can take that family trip all over …show more content…

Moving away from home for the first time was a scary but exciting experience for me. I ask myself questions nightly, trying to dig deep inside to find the answers. Like, how can I be a better roommate? Should I have eaten what I did for dinner? What is the best way to meet new people? Some nights, I answer questions from previous entries, maybe even changing some my mind on what I earlier thought. It’s alright, I know there are no wrong questions or answers. Right now, my blog is private and for my eyes only. But maybe, one day, I’ll let the world get an inside look into my life. Who knows, it might become a best selling

This semester we were assigned to write in a journal, or notebook regularly. I may have taken this assignment a bit overboard seeing as I am a distance student and cannot participate in person at the scheduled times. We were suggested to write easch day, a piece that made us feel something. I took this opportunity to not only write daily, but express my thoughts, ideas, opinions, and feelings. I used the book somewhat like an over glorified diary.…

Old Dogs Is it inherent to associate the elderly with mothballs and bingo? Is it a natural occurrence in nature for the youth to regard their ancestors as merely artefacts of a generation long gone, remnants of a society brought up by different social values and morals. Where have those beliefs of decades ago gone, where the elderly were considered oracles of wisdom and knowledge? Has the Internet connected us so extensively to the point that we no longer need to know of our own history and heritage? I can say confidently now that I myself was one of those people, always hearing but never listening, never fully engaging myself amongst those history lessons during Christmas lunch, never wishing to learn, never wishing to fully grasp an understanding.…

What my dog has taught me Humans are basically social animals, and in learning to coexist more peacefully, our pets could teach us a thing or two. Humans are sometimes arrogant enough to believe that our lives matter more than others, but in owning a dog it 's clear to see why it doesn 't. I know some people consider their pets as a part of their families. I strongly agree with that stance towards the dog I have in my home. Having been a dog owner since the age of nine, I can claim that a lot of growing and maturing goes on during that timeframe. Pets have this ability to teach people things that even humans cannot.…
