Life Essay: The Day I Never Changed My Life

I remember it like it was yesterday. The day my life turned upside down and went up in flames. It was a day that I will never forget in a million years. The events that happened not only changed my life but affected my whole family. It was the day I lost my grandma.That day I learned to appreciate the time you have with your loved ones because you never know when the hourglass will run out of sand. December 4th, 2012 started as a normal day. I never knew how much my life would change that day. I was 11 years old and was in the fifth grade. I don’t remember what I did at school that day, but I remember that I had been in a good mood. Until I came home that is. On the bus ride home, I realized my sister Sabrina had this look on her face that something had happened. I asked her if she was okay. Her response was, “ There is something going on and I have a feeling that it is something really bad.” In an instant my mood changed and my stomach felt queasy. I started thinking of all the things that could've possibly happened that would be so terrible. My grandma never crossed my mind. When I walked in the front door and saw my mom crying I knew that Sabrina had been right. Something terrible had happened.

My aunt had my grandma on life support, so she was hooked up to a machine that was helping her breath and helping her organs function properly because they could not function on there own. At that point my mom knew my grandma wasn’t going to make it. When we got to the hospital, my Aunt Barbie came out to help us find our way. She was crying. She turned to my mom and said Julie I want you to know before you go in there Tammy took her off life support and she is already gone. My mom started crying even harder than she was before. Once again I didn’t know how to react and didn’t want to believe
