The day I became a mother

The hardest thing any parent could hear their sixteen year old child say "Mom....Dad, I think I 'm pregnant." It was one of the toughest things I ever had to do (so I thought I did), was to tell my parents that I was pregnant. My fiance and I were terrified to tell both of our parents, we didn 't know what their reaction was going to be. August 1, 2012 was the day I officially found out I was pregnant and how many weeks I was; I was just turning 5 weeks. My mom was shocked by the news, but she supported me all the way in my decision that I was going to take.

My decision was to keep my child and Manuel supported my decision also. After we made the decision our

Now after remembering how I find it so hilarious. I would love it when my fiancé would rub my tummy it was the best thing ever. What I also enjoyed was that I didn 't get the pregnancy sickness my fiancé did which for me was fine because I didn 't have to deal with the morning sickness or the gaining weight.

I was almost due, and we still hadn 't gotten anything for the baby, I was getting anxious. One day out of the nowhere my fiance told me to go to my moms house all day and he 'll pick me up in the afternoon. That day my mom took me shopping, and she told me to get ready. I found it really weird but I just went along with it. Whe my fiance picked me up and we got home family and friends were there surprising me with a baby shower. I was delighted that everyone took time out of there day to come share this moment with

It was about 3:45 in the morning on a Sunday, where I found myself and my excited, wide-awake, good-looking boyfriend driving down a dark, eerie road to a hospital that was 61 miles away. Those 61 miles felt like light years to me I didn’t feel right all day today, I had a feeling deep down that my body was telling me that it was time. I was as nervous as I possibly could be, however, I had to remain completely calm because I could possibly be in labor and our first baby could arrive any time. So There I was, just Sitting there in that fast moving car, patiently waiting for the top of my big-ole belly to become super tight, tighter than a rubber band wrapped around your stomach 1000 times.…

Coming from a Mexican family and being a female is a bit difficult. It is difficult when you have family that is waiting for you to “grow up” to become a mother. Some family members belief this is still a norm for a female to get married, have children, and stay home to take care of the family. Just because some of the women in my family became mothers at a young age, I did not want to become a mother, at least not yet. On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich, she wrote “Happily, though, my fears turn out to be entirely unwarranted: during a month of poverty and toil, no one recognizes my face or my name, which goes unnoticed and for the most part unuttered.…

*National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day* Today is _National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day_. While he was in office, President Ronald Reagan designated October 1988 as _Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month_, which he began to remember pregnancy loss and infant death including, but not limited to, miscarriage, still birth, SIDS or the death of a newborn. Prior to social media, I never knew that such a day/month of remembrance existed, but I remember and often think about the two babies we lost to miscarriages in 1995 and 1996. I think about them in relation to the other young adults in our family and at the Kingdom Hall, and I wonder whether they were boys or girls, what they would have looked like, and what kind of personalities they would have had.…

Surrounded by a team of nurses, one doctor, and what seemed to be a grouping of blinding lights, I had a peculiar moment of serenity. I can’t quite explain whether it was the epidural or the fact that for twelve hours my body was engulfed by excruciatingly painful contractions which seemed to be attacking me in a sporadic manner, but in that one moment everything was perfect. Somehow I just let go off every single fear I had, I just remembered that in any moment there would be an extraordinary occurrence. Although a natural part in many women’s lives, since the beginning of time, it was a phenomenon in my life.…

No matter what, every single day somebody is being judged and labeled. Whether or not a person is overweight, underweight, mentally challenged, we are all being judged. Furthermore, growing up in a conservative, white, Christian family, has taught me many things about how I am expected to act, as well as which actions are acceptable or unacceptable. My culture and religious views molded me into believing that it was acceptable to judge others and be intolerant of different groups of people. In my family, you were expected to wait until married to have sex, then it was appropriate to have a child.…
