It was two o’clock in the afternoon and we had just arrived in San Antonio. My mother and sister were busy chatting away in the front seats of our car, as grandmother lay fast asleep, with her head on my shoulder. And I, too busy singing along to music that lightly played in the background, contemplated what the next four years of my life would be like. I kept wondering if I had made the right decision. When I am asked what I am most passionate about, tons of random thoughts clutter my brain in the search for the answer. There is no answer, there is no one answer. UTSA focuses on a curriculum aimed at providing real world experience through programs, internships, etc. It is one thing to learn the tools necessary in order to create positive change, but it is also necessary to gain an educational experience both in and out of the classroom. UTSA has given me more than I could have ever anticipated. Coming from a small close-minded town in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, it was this university that opened the world around me exposing layers I didn’t even know existed.
