Personal Narrative Essay: The Best Gift To My Family

Improved Essays
On August 9th, 1996 I made my grand entrance into my family on my grandparents 32nd wedding anniversary, they always say that I’m the best gift they have ever gotten. I knew that this was no funny joke because I was truly raised and treated like some sort of prize. Though my parents divorced when I was just three years old I never lost shred of love, actually if anything I think I was blessed with more love. I had the luxury of staying with my grandparents often, who my brother and I were always closer with than my other cousins, and I loved going to both of parents houses. My brother being older was always protective of me and went out of his way to make sure I was always the happiest little girl you’ve ever seen. If you ask my mom she will …show more content…
He was an amazing athlete and I was good as well just not as passionate as him. My junior year I decided to not sign up for any sports, and it caused a pretty big rift between my family and I. The feeling of not being accepted sent me into a crippling depression for about three months I attended counseling twice a week and was prescribed Zoloft at only 16 years old. At first I felt like a freak on top of my depression but luckily my massive stress I went under and my diagnosis made my family kind of back off. In school I acquired a completely new group of friends and slowly started to move on from my identity …show more content…
My hometown highschool fills with a maximum of fifty kids per graduating class so I was a little more than shocked to go to a campus of over ten thousand students. After about a week of parties that actually terrified me I knew that I wanted more than anything to go home. Unlike when I was worried about what everyone else thought of me this time it was me being the bully to myself. When I got home I couldn't accept the fact that I was already a college dropout, my family and friends were actually happy to have me home so I was the only one being hard on myself. Even though I wasn't happy at college I really didn't want to be moved back in with my parents so the first few days were extremely hard, I stayed in my room applying for jobs for three

It was the first day of the summer 2009. I just finished watching my first musical phantom of the opera, I told my sister I sang just as well as Christine the main character. Lily my little sister giggled and said “no way you are the worst singer in the world.” Sadly I sat in my room, and I came up with a plan to become the best singer of all time. I told my parents to come so I could ask if it would work my mother told me “if you work hard and put your mind to it you can accomplish anything.”…

I interviewed my seventy-five year old grandpa Donnie, researched the Voyles lineage book that my grandma Arlene helped compile, and talked with my dad in order to find out more about my family’s history. According to Grandpa Donnie, it all began in 1759 when Jacob Voils, his wife, and his four sons landed in Port Charleston from Wales. Jacob was a poor man and could not afford the family’s way to Charleston. Desperate, he made a deal with the ship’s captain to indenture his oldest son William Voils as a crew hand for four years in exchange for the family’s way. Upon regaining his freedom, William furiously changed the spelling of his last name to Voyles to break all ties from his father Jacob. Since then, William Voyles’ descendants have spread throughout the Midwest and West.…

On 06/01/2018 at approximately 1654 hrs., I responded to the 100 blk of S Main St in reference to a drunk male without a shirt on harassing people walking while being aggressive. The caller advised the male also cornered two young women of the street and was harassing people in their vehicles. I made contact with the male without a shirt on and identified him as Boyd Douglas Wagner, W/M, DOB 06/23/1975. Wagner had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. I told Wagner to stop harassing people. I told Wagner to go home or to have someone to come pick him up. I told Wagner being publicly intoxicated can end him up in the drunk tank. Wagner advised he would leave.…

It was a chaotic day at the hospital, and the waiting room was packed tighter than a can of sardines. The smell of disinfectant and sweat seemed pleasant, when compared to the baby with the sagging diaper running around. Sitting with his girlfriend was Larry Goodman, a Rubeus Hagrid lookalike, minus the moleskin overcoat. He adjusted the blue hospital mask that was too tight. He couldn’t believe it, sitting here for the second time this week. But she was in pain and they told her to come back, immediately, if she had another gallbladder attack. This time it was worse, she had puked the whole way there. Larry kept pulling the bottle of sanitizer out of his pocket, and squeezing it into his hand.…

Sunlight poured in as Lacher sat at his desk, a book resting in his hands. His eyes traced the words on the page, focusing intently on what he was reading. He pushed his glasses up with his index finger, sighing as he heard a knock at the door. He rose from his chair and made his way around the office he set up in Helputt's old castle. He reached for the door before pausing, taking a moment to brush off his suit pants before turning the knob.…

My family were looking for something we could do in Downtown Sacramento last September 2nd, this year. I searched on Google about events that will happen that Saturday, and I found out about a 3-day SacAnime event at the Sacramento Convention Center. Remember the last time you were at a casino and you heard all that yelling at the craps table and wondered “what are they yelling about”, but you never ventured over there because you are too intimidated by craps. You’re not the only one. I used to watch from a distance trying to figure out what was going on, people were throwing chips everywhere yelling all sorts of crazy jargon (“press”, “same bet”, “hard 8”, “odds”) all while the dealers are moving chips all over the place paying people and taking other people’s money. What a crazy and intimidating game. In this ebook, I will go over some basics of craps and a variety of bets that you can make. I will also share some of my favorites that I’ve won with (and lost with).…

As a child, having rules to follow wasn’t unheard of with my family. There was always a way to behavior with friends/family, at school, at home and out in the street. Often I found myself getting into trouble because I didn 't listen and also the fact that I always found some kind of way to slipping out of having to doing something that I knew I was supposed to do. But out of all the people in my family my mom was the strictest. When expectations set high, not meaning them meant my siblings and I typical had a week long cleaning punishments along with handing over all toys, games, and light up sneakers; about three times a week this happened to me. As a kid I was told, warned and screamed at, to listen and do what was expected of myself, something…
