Personal Narrative: Pets Are Not Our Whole Life

Pets are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole. They can provide unconditional love and loyalty that humans cannot, and can also shape you to become a more mature, loving person. Besides waking up to find a clear cookie plate confirming that Santa has been there, it is every child's dream to wake up on Christmas morning to be accompanied by an adorable pet that they would grow to love and protect. Every year, my sister and I get clothes and toys that eventually we manage to outgrow, but this Christmas was different. This year, we opened up the best gift we have ever received. On December 25, 2012, I woke up and walked into our spacious family room containing the enormous fir tree that we had chosen that year. Ella has brought a great deal of happiness into our home and provides unconditional love. It is amazing how something so small has made such a large impact on my life. Although we do not speak the same language, we communicate by expressing affection. When I come home from long volleyball tournaments that could take me out of town for days, she is always at the door greeting my family and I when we arrive home. I am so glad that I have had the chance to obtain the company of such a loyal companion for the past few years of my life. It is safe to say that I wouldn’t trade Ella in for any other pet in the
