Improved Essays
It was a normal Friday morning. The air was crisp and chilly. I met my friends on the way down the stairwell of my apartment building, and we had a conversation about the date. It was Friday the 13th. They told me that there was a movie called Friday the 13th, and that the day was bad luck. I laughed and joked about it until we got to school. Everything was normal until it was time for recess when it took an unexpected turn for the worst. I was playing basketball with my friends when I got distracted by my friend calling me, and I got hit in the face by a basketball. My nose started to bleed, so the teacher sent me to the nurse. The bleeding quickly stopped, but I sat in the nurse's office for a couple minutes, thinking about the bad luck of Friday the 13th and its legitimacy. …show more content…

My two close friends Johnny and Leoul were among the group, and I recognized the others from my apartment building. I quickly made it all the way to the final along with my best friend, Johnny. The kids there decided to change the race course, and they made the start on a hill to make it more exciting. On the way up the hill, I started joking about Friday the 13, and Johnny brought up what had happened at recess. I quickly replied with, “That's just a coincidence,” while hiding how I really felt. I was starting to believe in the bad luck of Friday the 13th. Johnny was about to reply until he got cut off by Leoul, who was counting down. When Leoul got to zero Johnny and I took off. You could hear the sound of the wheels crash against the concrete tabs of the sidewalk. I quickly took the lead and kept it. I could feel the wind brushing up against my face, which caused my eyes to water. I had just about won the race until I realized there was a dent in the ground. I tried to slow down, but it was too late. Before I knew it, the scooter flipped and I was in

Halloween is like a horror movie, except with drunk teenagers instead of axe murders. It was about two years ago, when we were still living in Germany. It was a fairly peaceful Halloween night and the sun was about to set. My friends and I were walking around the village, what Germans call a town. After about half an hour of us walking around and talking, some acne filled, tall, muscular and older, German teenagers came up to us.…

As I passed through downtown Atlanta, I couldn't help admire the home of the Braves, not just because it was an architectural wonder but because it brought back to mind that very first lesson when Professor Van Huevelen sparked my curiosity when he said we find that there are some things in this world that are repeatable. Repeatable. Repeatable. So a baseball pitcher, if he throws a ball with the same speed and in the same direction, spinning the ball the same, it'll end up going about the same place.…

It was April 20th, 1999 when a slight breeze filled the sky, enjoying the cool winds I rocketed towards school. Arriving at school, I felt like a log flowing down a river stream, and then suddenly a loud "Bzzzzz" echoed down the halls. The hallways felt like a school of fish viciously running away from a predator hunting them down. In a matter of seconds, everything calmed down and the first period started. A sudden rumbling sound came out from my stomach, as I anxiously waited for the lunch bell to ring.…
