I have never been a risk taker or daredevil. The person from a group of friends that kills the Black Widow Spider on the wall doesn’t represent me, and I shy away from dangerous tasks out of fear. This needed to change when the opportunity to complete some dangerous stunts came my way while zip lining in the mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Everything started last summer when we drove to the Smoky Mountains for vacation. We decided to zip line as one of our activities. After we checked in, they supplied us with two tour guides, one to send us off the zip line, the sender, and one to stop us at the end, the receiver. They handed out harnesses and helmets, and then they drove us up the windy mountain on an ATV.

When they safely completed the challenge, it reassured me of my safety. Finally, my turn approached. I stood on the box, this time facing backwards, about to step off. My mind rushed with a million thoughts such as, what if I get stuck upside down or fall off ? The people on the platform behind me cheered for me and encouraged me that I could do it. It felt like my death bed was approaching. Beating one thousand beats per minute, my heart pounded. I was even more apprehensive than the first zip line! But, then I remembered how I conquered the first one, and that comforted me.
Finally, I decided to conquer my fears and step off. Most of the others jumped off, but I slowly and timidly just stepped off backwards. I screamed. By the time I reached the middle of the zip line, I kicked my feet in the air and flipped upside down. Since I thought I would still be upside down by the time the zip line ended, I only stayed upside down for a few seconds. But, at least I could say I did it now, and it ended up being kind of
