She told me that my brother had told her that his roommate had accidently let red slip out of their apartment in San Diego. Red didn’t know my brothers roommate that well so he was always very jumpy around him. Red saw his chance to run from this person and he took it. I was devastated, I didn’t know what I could do. How could we find a dog in such a big city? I was lost for words.
After printing out a couple hundred of fliers we immediately set out to San Diego in search of our beloved pit bull. We searched all day for this dog, passed out so many fliers and asked so many people if they had seen a brown pit bull with a white spot on his chest. So far, we had no luck at all, no one seemed to see my dog or even really care. That’s what killed me the most, no one seemed to care that our dog was lost; surely they know the pain of losing a dog and may have been lucky enough to find their dog in quick succession. We went to the address that the man gave us and we go into the back yard. We can see a brown dog with a white spot on his chest but we couldn’t tell if it was red because it was already pretty dark outside. My brother calls him and the dog responds, this gives me butterflies because it was the closest thing we had to even finding red. He calls him again and the dogs breaks free of his fence prison and starts sprinting towards us at full speed.
When the dog reaches my brother he jumps into his arms and starts wailing. I have never heard a dog make this noise from seeing their owner before, it made me tear up a little bit. The dog that was wailing was out dog, I was in disbelief; how could our dog survive after being gone for so many days? Red was lost for a whole week in San Diego.
