Why 5k Is Important To Me

Running a 5k can be a very difficult task to do but when you can over exceed your expectation and do better than someone that you know is a better runner than you, can make you feel good about yourself. A 5k can be the easiest thing to do in the world if you run as part of your daily workout routine or do it as a sport but it can be a very challenging task as I thought it was when my dad told me about it a week before the race and I really had no time to train. My dad pressured myself to do the race because of my past history of running when I finished 3rd and 4th in my school races in 2nd and 3rd grade but the only downside was that I didn’t run in about 5 years as the 5k took place in 2013 and I didn’t know if I still had that talent in me …show more content…
I felt the pain during the race as I was running faster than I was during training and my body wasn’t quite used to me running that hard for a long period of time like that but I tried to block that out as best as I could and keep going not only to impress my dad and my other family members who were there at the race but to impress myself and achieve myself to new heights in ways I never thought was possible to me to do at that time. I ran with my dad the at the start of the race as my other family members ran with their dad and then went behind except for me and my cousin runs cross country and runs as a sport so I thought that I was doing good at that point of the race and to just keep going and to not slow down and most importantly to not quit on myself during the race. When the end of the race is imminent I decided to go faster and to finish strong and I picked up speed and passed my dad near the finish line which was one of the most memorable things I ever happened to me.
