“Bergit hurry up and finish packing your box up we have to get on the boat.” We live in small concrete buildings, barely big enough for a single bed, when we arrive to America that will change, we will be like happy people in mansion. Mamá was cooking our last feast in our house. Ill miss walking to my best friend Summy's house. We would play barbies and pretend we was fierce worriers. After dinner mamá counted up all of our coins to see if we have enough, we barely do. But when we get to America, money wont be a problem I just know. The ship is crowded, people are rude just pushing me around like a baby doll. The ship smelled like a mix of oil and fish. Made me sick. We are going to America to seek religious freedom. There is this family that is stationed behind us, they have a baby that will not stop crying. Its ribs are showing, it looks pity full. …show more content…
Its getting crazy. There is trash everywhere, and the food is just horrid. My dad goes out every meal to get the 1st classes left overs. There is a real nice man who sneaks it for us. That family beside us is also having it rough the father died of hunger. The mom hasn't ate a bite of food, shes been giving it all to the baby, she looks sick, I don't think shes going to make it to long. Mom shakes me real fast saying wake up and we are here. We run onto the crowded deck. The sight of the statue of liberty is breath taking. Its freedom. There are thousands of people on the deck, cheering, crying, hugging, and kissing. We start getting off when the women with the baby stops us. She had tears falling off those soft bony cheeks. Shes trying to tell us something but shes studdering. Finally my dad tells her to spit it out. “ I need you to take my baby, I cant go on anymore,” she says with a sob. She hands us the baby and takes off. We sat there in silence for a couple of minutes. We was shocked that a mother could just leave her daughter to a lot of
