Many people would be hesitant to consider driving a car around a dirt track for several hours on a hot Saturday afternoon as an actual sport. But then some find it interesting and this is where the story begins.
So here we are at our home town race track Oklahoma Sports Park on another Saturday night like usually spend Saturday nights. Getting the cars ready and warmed up before the races as well as the track during a few hot laps. After that, we’re on to the drivers meeting where we go over the same old, rules for the new drivers that occasionally stop by. After a few laps he had managed to make up to the front where another driver spun him out and during that one of the tires blew out. So, it was off to the pits to hurry and change his tire before they started the race again and right before they threw the green flag again he was back out on the track. Three laps into the race, Ryan was in first place, but there was another wreck which a caution was thrown. Now, they had decided to make a call Ryan had jumped the start so instead of sending him to the very back they sent him three positions back. All the facts about the harm and damage to the environment and one’s health was very believable and true. According to www.oilprice.com, “From constant travel to keeping the stadium lights on, every sport is energy intensive. But NASCAR — in which drivers race vehicles 500 miles at speeds of 200 miles per hour — takes energy intensity to a whole new level,” this is an example of how NASCAR can harm the environment, which Servino was persuading us to believe through her article. Most NASCAR fans are multi-generational fans. Namely, they are fans because their parents are.…

Once the car was dry and the axles were polished we would test them on the track. Our group always had this advantage because we hosted the event and had the track set up the night before the race. The day of the race was always an exciting day, I would always wake up to early and have to wait till it would finally be time to leave and head to church for the race. When we got there I would walk into the foyer and see all the race day decorations hanging from the ceiling.…

One thing that surprised me about the car was that the car tires were filled with nitrogen gas instead of compressed air. Nitrogen is a colorless and odorless non-toxic gas used to reduce the temperature of the tire and increase its lifespan. In races, it may be able to keep tire pressure more constant and slow pressure loss without reacting to the tire and rim materials. Another thing that surprised me about the car was its design and build. What really caught my eye was that the inside of the body shell of the car.…

The cars have to travel through the pit stop throughout the race and have their tires changed numerous times. In Brian Rohrig’s article it states “The tires are often under inflated when they are first installed on a car, and after a few laps, the tires heat up and the pressure becomes greater.” The tires pressure increases during the race because of Gay-Lussac’s Law. The law confirms the fact that the pressure of a gas increases as its temperature increases. When a NASCAR car starts moving at its electrifying speed around the track the tires pressure increases and this helps increase the grip of the tires.…

When most people think of sports, the first thing that comes to mind is probably football, basketball, maybe baseball, or soccer - usually a competition that involves a type of ball and two teams going head to head. But NASCAR is a different kind of sport, it is a motorsport. Forty purpose-built race cars with a team of pit crews, engineers, and mechanics battle every week on a variety of racetracks across the country. Just like any other sport, NASCAR has its own rules of competition, scheduled events, a points system, and a champion crowned at the end of the season. And just like many other sports, the possibility of player injury is also very real.…
