“You Can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get”(Phelps).In my last 6 years of playing the sport of lacrosse, I have come to fall in love with not only thesport but the competitiveness. As soon as the sound of that initial whistle blows and echoesthrough my ears, it triggers a part in my brain that completely alters my way of thinking. I am nolonger your average competitor playing the sport they enjoy, I begin to isolate myself fromoutsiders as I redirect my focus on giving all of my effort to succeed. Ever since I came incontact with my first stick, I have wanted nothing more than to succeed at this sport and work toreach every childhood athlete’s dream, a college scholarship to play the sport they love.This sport …show more content…
This passion is also based off the competitive nature of the game. The competition withinmy team forces me to never be complacent with my skill set. Everyday I am pushed by myteammates and of course my coaches.
One vital factor in my success while playing the game of lacrosse is my first coach, DougShanahan. Since my first step on the lacrosse field, Coach Shanahan has been by my side andalways eager to watch me succeed. I have been training with Coach Shanahan for 5 years nowand whenever I have any sort of question or lack of motivation I look to him to guide me downthe correct path. Coach Shanahan has had one of the greatest collegiate lacrosse careers to everplay the game, as he played at Hofstra University and achieved the highest honor in collegelacrosse by earning the Tewaaraton Award.

Lacrosse has completed me as a person as I have come to learn some major aspectsof life through this sport. When it is all said and done, I strive to be able to say that I gave thisgame my all and in return it has given me friendships and taught me enough life lessons to go onwith my life with lacrosse forever in my heart.
