Personal Narrative Essay On Why Me Moment

Superior Essays
It wasn’t until my freshmen year in high school that I had my Why Me moment. For most of my life things went (more or less) in my favor. I might walk into my house with a bloody nose and a ripped shirt, but you should see the other guy. I might walk into my house with my jeans missing the back two pockets because they were still stuck to my chair at school, but you should see the other guy now that I was wearing his pants and he was trying to cover up the missing material that my pants were lacking. I like a joke as much as the next guy, but some jokes can go too far. I couldn’t blame some of the guys, and if I was in their place and they were in mine… Why is it when you try to explain things to you mother that they always bring up …show more content…
Singing a duet with your parents and playing the piano side by side can actually be entertaining or enduring. Having the whole school see your mother as your sexy assistant guarantee many hours lying on a couch in a physiatrist’s office to at least help you be able to get a night sleep once in a while from the nightmares that would soon follow that particular talent show. Then there is that one moment when lightning strikes and the darkness is swept away as everything is awash in a brilliant bright …show more content…
To be more precise, we had saved each other. It wasn’t something that either one of us had planned. Who could make the perfect plan two days before the big parent student talent show as this? Oh, you can bring in divine intervention, or some mumbo jumbo about fate, but this was all coincidental and was welcomed. Before my guarantee humiliation, my mother was out picking up some (why me) fishnet stocking and her corset from the cleaners when she made a mistake and stepped on this man’s foot and twisted her ankle. Not only that, the man tried to catch her as she was falling and dislocated his

Thank goodness that I can now look back and use this excuse for myself, because when I was growing up, there was a lot of “good”, a bit of “bad”, and unfortunate amounts of “weird”. As all kids do, I had my moments when I was growing up. There were always plenty of laughs around me, due to my desires to stand out and make sure I always had some sort of spotlight on me. Kids…

Everything happens for a reason I lived my whole life in Mexico a place where you can meet good friends and, most of them people don’t have nothing not even a dime on them, but they are very humble. I won’t deny that Mexico is also a country where there is so much evil where even walking down the street you can feel yourself unprotected from their own people and the government itself, but nevertheless Mexico is like a playground where you can spend all your time having fun. To succeed in Mexico is very difficult because it firmly depends on two things, time and place, if you don’t have at least one of them your probabilities of success are low. My conflict arises when I had to choose between a better life which was coming to the US and what at the time was my current which was pretty much my whole life, friends, education, etcetera. “Everything happens for a reason” my dad always says, so in order to be successful I had to face the adversities of life and see whether if my current life was better for me or the future life that was waiting for me somewhere else.…

Something in me has always known that I was not typical. In this generation, the typical person would graduate high school and then go on to pursue a two to four year college degree. Up until a few months ago, that was what I thought I was going to do. I thought that I was going to go to a private college somewhere, major in law, come out to be a defense attorney, and spend my days and nights hauled up in a courtroom somewhere. I believed that that was going to be my reality not because I wanted it to be but because I thought it had to be.…

My excitement was like a like five year old on a sugar rush from eating too much Halloween candy. I had not played Rock Band in seven depressing years. The game forged a very destructive and negative atmosphere, due to the deafening sounds of the musical instruments and songs. I screamed into the microphone aggressively, attempting to follow the violent lyrics shown on the large television. I was anxiously moving along to the beat of the song, jumping energetically from side to side.…

I came out of my shell during the end of my 5th grade year towards my 6th grade year. First and foremost before we get that far this is how it all began. I was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone; a really small country located in West Africa.. I lived there until I was 8 during one sunny afternoon when you could hear the weary cows, stray dogs scream the sound of uneasiness and footsteps approaching into the compound carrying what at the time was bad news.…

“A handful of moments I wished I could change, but I was carried away,” are the lyrics that remind a lot about myself. Growing up, and even about two years ago, I was insanely shy and did not talk much around people, friends, or family. The way I talked to people was in a timid, soft spoken way, which looking back, was awfully embarrassing. My friends and family would laugh at me because I could not talk well, and when I did talk, they acted as if I were a baby who just said its first words. With all of that nonsense going on, their idiotic response kind of made me not want to say anything anymore.…

Who Am I? The simple answer is a name, Travis; but who is that really? It took me awhile, and a lot of learning to truly feel like I found myself. Looking back, finding myself was the easy part; the hard part is trying not to lose myself again in this big, scary world. I learned trying to follow your own path can have major ups and downs, including stress and a desire to feel wanted by people who you feel are better than you.…
