I wake up to the loud beeping of my alarm, slowly roll out of bed, and take in a quick, sharp, breath. I’m sore. Why did I say yes to going to the gym? I just knew it would be a bad idea. Today is the school track meet and I am running the 100 meter dash. I slowly stand up and get dressed into my new Tarwater shirt and shorts, pull my soft blonde hair up into a high bun, and put my shoes on. I walk out of my room feeling numb from the waist down and ask my dad if I could borrow his roller to stretch out my legs. I spend about 20 minutes on that, when I look over at the clock; 7:49am. I dash around the corner and see the bus pulling up onto its spot, and let out a sigh of relief. I walk up the steps onto the bus and sit down in seat 24, open my backpack and take out my math homework that I forgot to do last night. I quickly solve all the problems, put my book in my bag, walk off the bus, and go over to the field where all my friends are standing talking to each other. We talk about the track meet until the bell rings. Then we line up in messy rows of friends standing next to each other 2 by 2 and 4 by 4 talking about how excited everyone is. My class walks over to our bus and we pile on one at a time and sit 2 people to each row. I sit down next to my friend Reagan and we talk the whole way there about how nervous we are. She is running in the 400 meter dash. As we pull up into the parking lot of Bogle Jr. High, everyone starts to talk louder and louder until the teachers tell us to quiet down. We meet the rest of our class under a tent that was set up by the volunteers. We start to warm up by stretching and
