“BEEP BEEP BEEP”. I raise my hand to shut off the annoyingly loud alarm clock. A few moments go by and I immediately jolt out of bed, almost tripping over my own two feet. July 25th, the day I get to head down to Texas for a month. As I head down my steps I can hear my dad and my Tio talking. I also can smell the eggs, bacon, lengua, and the refried beans being made for breakfast. After brushing my teeth, I grab a plate and pile on the food. As soon as I’m done eating I rush back upstairs to my room out of excitement and finish packing for the month. Next thing I know I’m hugging my family goodbye. I remember hugging my mother. She was wearing her favorite perfume. As I got into the Expedition, I look out the window I rolled down and see my …show more content…
Going through all the states was nothing new to me. I had seen everything dozens of times because I have gone down when I younger and for spring break. So, my cousin and I slept 85% of the time on the way down. The only time I woke up was to use the restroom at every rest-stop we went to. Because the trip down was so boring I had my headphones with me and plugged them into my phone and played my playlist full of r&b to k-pop. My cousin saw what I was listening to and recommended some other songs that I should listen to so I downloaded the songs and added them to my playlist, put it on shuffle and went back to sleep. Before I knew it, I’m in my Tio’s driveway in Little River-Academy, …show more content…
The night I got there was really fun. We had a cookout and put on some music…. But it was a mistake staying up. Now I don’t go to church, but for my Tia’s sake I just sucked it up and went for the one day. There was a seperate room upstairs where the teenagers would go. We all had to read a verse from the bible and introduce myself and I started to panic. They asked where i’m from and how old I was because I was new at the church. I replied in English and everyone started giggling. I felt my face get beat red and I sunk down in my seat. They asked if I knew how to speak spanish and I said only a little bit. After that we moved on to reading the bible verses. I guess I read mine a little too fast or something because everyone started to giggle again. This was most certainly not fun. After the church service was over I asked my cousins why everyone was giggling at me and they said because they never see mexicans that don’t or can’t speak spanish fully. That right there gave me a huge reality check. I thought that being discriminated back in Michigan was bad when it’s still bad down here even when I’m surrounded by my ‘own people’ as you could say it. I’m discriminated in Michigan because of the pigmentation in my skin, how I look, how I dress and even when I speak spanish. Now down here in Texas im getting teased because I don’t know enough spanish?! Now that’s

Texas is a thriving state, but it wasn’t always that way. When Texas was just a Spanish colony, it almost failed. Spain had established a few forts in Texas and had sent explorations to claim land all over Texas. In the year 1682, French explorer named Rene-Robert Cavalier, Sieur de La Salle established Fort St. Louis in east Texas and that made Spain nervous. In response to this fort, Spain made a plan to scare off the French.(Background Essay)…

I believe Texas wouldn’t even make it in a week they would need a lot of help in every way possible, financially, with the military or army, with their own currencies, and with political loss. If Texas even tried to become its own country they will lose money, no citizens would get any help from the government and some families would starve to death, they might lose jobs even people for example some immigrants help us financially and if they see a big change they would either move to a different state from the United States, or they would go back to their own country. Some companies or business people could lose their customers because of this, a lot of people only like to deal with people from the United States, but the moment they see Texas…
