Personal Narrative Essay On FFA

My story starts in a basic classroom: posters on the walls, whiteboards full of lecture notes from previous classes, and tables and chairs strategically placed amongst the room. Two tables have been pushed together and around them sat my fellow FFA leadership team members. Our teacher sat at the head of the table and talked without ceasing, as normal, about the myriad of opportunities set before us, and the minimal amount of time we had to do such tasks. He lectured us about all the activities we need to plan and prepare. Moving from topic to topic, in no particular order, our teacher said these words: “I received an email for a new project to advance our community and need volunteers to pursue this.” Seconds of silence seemed like minutes, …show more content…
FFA chapters that wished to participate were required to register online and put down a one hundred dollar down payment to participate. The plans for the event included: chapters collecting canned foods in honor of the World Food Prize, all collected cans were required to be recorded, the winner would be announced preceding the competition week, and the winning FFA chapter would receive all down payments of one hundred dollars previously provided by participants to donor to a food shelter of their choice along with all food collected. Our chapter registered, send in the down payment, and the plans to make this project succeed were …show more content…
Our expectations of a couple hundred cans were greatly underestimated, we were about to find that out the hard way. We divided the officer team into three groups, sending each group to either the elementary, middle, or high school classrooms. Four other officers and myself were sent to the elementary school with 5 plastic totes, and a hope that we would at least fill those. After arriving and entering the first three classrooms it became apparent that our little tubs weren’t nearly enough to carry all the cans collected. After collecting from every classroom in the elementary alone, it was estimated we had collected over 500 cans, and the towel cart we borrowed from a janitor was almost overflowing with

PLP part three was an eye opening experience to say the least. For our group project we decided to go to the Michigan State Food Bank, located in Olin Health Center. Prior to arriving to Olin Health Center for our service project, our group had very little knowledge about the Food Bank, besides that it served food to people in need. After completing our short three hour shift at the Food Bank, our viewpoint of the Food Bank completely changed. The Michigan State Food Bank is nonetheless than a masterpiece of leadership.…

Even when I’m wrong I’m usually right. At least that is how I like to think of it but the truth is I am headstrong. I don’t give up and I’ll keep persisting to get what I want. Though it hasn’t always been helpful, but, yet being so stubborn has lead me to work hard to to achieve my goals. To say I’m as stubborn as a mule would be an understatement.…

Reaching a goal and the work it takes to get there can be a long, trying process. My goal is to put together a win to make it to the National FFA Competition on the FFA Nursery Landscape team. I have competed on the Nursery Landscape team from the time I was a freshman. As a team of three freshmen and one sophomore, our main goal was to place as high as we could as individuals which would help our team score. At the State Convention, I wanted to place in the top twenty as an individual.…

Many experiences in my life have changed my views in multiple ways, but by far the most life changing experience has to be when I was elected Daingerfield District Vice-President for the FFA. This experience has broadened my comfort zone of shyness and unconfidence, and as the FFA Opening Ceremonies say, it brought me “into the glorious sunlight of brotherhood and cooperation.” I finally began to realize after Greenhand Camp, my freshman year, that I might have a potential future in the FFA. With the support of my chapter, friends, family and much devoted prayer, I was able to accomplish my fears and officially announce that I was running for District Officer.…

My personal experience with FFA is all post high school. During college I discovered the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences when I took AGTM 100 as a career exploration course and I moved into CALS forever after that. In my classes most of my peers are FFA alumni and each member that I have met has shared proudly their memories of FFA. I could not help but noticing with each experience that was shared with me all of the amazing opportunities the program gave them. I couldn’t believe all of the things that they had gotten to learn in high school, to be honest I am a little jealous.…

On 06/01/2018 at approximately 1654 hrs. , I responded to the 100 blk of S Main St in reference to a drunk male without a shirt on harassing people walking while being aggressive. The caller advised the male also cornered two young women of the street and was harassing people in their vehicles. I made contact with the male without a shirt on and identified him as Boyd Douglas Wagner, W/M, DOB 06/23/1975. Wagner had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person.…

In the past, the FFA Chapter had not been that successful. We had a pretty large group of kids in FFA, but many didn’t actively participate. My main goal for the year was to get people involved and excited about being in FFA and the agriculture industry. I am extremely proud to say that we had 1/3 of our members participate in FFA contests…

Geography was one of the most eye-opening subjects throughout high school. I genuinely enjoyed learning about humanity and major issues that arose on a day to day basis. At the time, the Terry Fox fundraiser was about to start and my teacher asked if anyone was able to help the World Issues Group after school. The World Issues Group is a student-run club in which individuals tackle daily issues that occur in the world by issuing fundraisers and raising awareness throughout the school.…

Our actions had remarkable results - we simultaneously collected over $2000 in donations for the Breakfast Club; raised awareness regarding poverty and hunger; and exponentially increased school spirit. Furthermore, we were recognized with an Honourable Mention by the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board for a “Speak Up!” grant. The utter success of Dodge for Hunger subsequently means that we can continue, and even improve the event on a bigger scale…

It was in kindergarten that I first came face-to-face with the inequity of good looks, and the fact that I didn’t have them. In music class, the teacher would hand out all the best instruments to the pretty girls. “Here, Clarisse, you get the triangle!” “Lisa, would you like the slide whistle?” “Jennifer, how about tickling the ivories of this priceless antique harpsichord?” And on and on it went, until it came to me.…
