Personal Narrative Essay On Drones

There was a rough breeze blowing in my face, and it was a cold day. The leaves were just starting to fall off of the trees. It was a nice fall day in my backyard, and I was flying my new drone higher than I've ever flown it before. It’s height was about two times the size of my house and it looked about a centimeter wide from where I was standing. I was just thinking of how great this video would be that I was getting when suddenly, the drone jerked backward. I tried to make it come back to me but it kept drifting away. I should have just turned off the throttle to prevent it from going any further, but I figured I would get in trouble if I left my property to go search for it. So I kept trying to make it come back. The controller felt like a useless piece of junk in my hands. I decided it would be best if I went on to the abandoned property to get it back in range, but it didn’t work. I watched in horror as the drone drifted out of view as I was running to see where it would land. I couldn't believe what I had just done. I collapsed on the ground in despair.

I thought he was going to be really angry at me, but he just said, “Let’s go look for it.” We went outside and he asked, “Do you think it crossed the road?” “I’m pretty sure it crossed the road,” I answered. We searched in the dried up fall crops on the other side of the road. My dad turned up the throttle on the controller periodically, and we strained our ears to hear the drone. “It’s not in here,” my dad concluded after we searched for a while. “It couldn’t have gotten any farther than here.” The feeling of despair started coming back to me. My parents had gotten me this $90 drone for my birthday, and I lost it within a month. It was a terrible

When I worked on my Eagle project, I had to communicate between my troop, the homeless shelter I was working for, the people I was buying supplies from, and the people who were helping me raise funds. I had never built a patio or barbeque area, nor had I refurbished a bench before, so I took careful notes from both a contractor and a handyman to ensure I did it right. To get the project approved, I wrote a 14-page proposal, and then raised $1000. Then, due to an irremovable deadline, I ended up doing the project the same week as my SAT and all three of my AP tests. It was one of the most mentally and emotionally draining challenges I had in my life, and not everything went smoothly.…

Missiles could be seen in the distance exploding villages nearby, shots were fired followed by screams of terror and pain. Villages were found in pieces, and the dead left lying on the muddied, dirt ground. Survivors running for their life in tattered and soiled clothes. Nights were spent in the cold, without food, the fear of being killed, and no place that one can call safe. It was in the year of 1975, when the Khmer Rouge had finally taken over Cambodia.…

The illustration that really caught my eye was when the fly is responds to the spider “Oh no, no, for I’ve often heard it said, they never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!” This specific picture really spoke volume to me on many occasions. The illustration shows the fly looking over at the spider’s bed and there is a group of ghost bugs holding a book called “The joy of cooking bugs.” The fly is aware of the spider’s misleading words because she is constantly proving to him that she isn’t a fool. Although she is aware of the spider’s tactics the fly still gets eaten by the spider.…

Deep bonding with flights I developed as a toddler. The flights’ landing and takeoff, I watched curiously when I was waiting in the airport launch for boarding Lufthansa flight to India. Fading of sawing noise as the plane disappeared in the sky during takeoff and puffs of smoke from the wheel as they touched the ground on landing captivated me. My level of excitement to watch these scenes never changed a bit even now.…

Over the course of the last 15 years, my body has been taken over by FBI handlers for experimentation ad surveillance. It started just after September 11, 2001, and it has caused immense challenges for me in my own life. I went from running my own business to slapping myself, yelling and being completely unable to work. My business closed down, and I was put into a mental hospital by my father. It started with a dead cat, and it ended with a dead cat. Well, it technically ended with therapy, but you get the picture. Flashback to ninth grade: a friend of my mother called us up to tell her one of the stray neighborhood cats had died, leaving behind a litter of day old kittens. She said she didn't have the time or resources to care for them, and asked if my mom could take them off her hands until they became old enough to give to the SPCA. My mother, with her wretched bleeding heart, obliged more than willingly, and we found ourselves with a litter of newborn kittens for at least the third time.…
