One memorable moment I had this winter break was a trip to New York City with my friends. We left at 8:30 in the morning from a train at the New Haven Union Station. We arrived at Grand Central Station around 10:30. It was a chilly morning in New York so we wanted to quickly walk to Times Square to browse a couple stores. There are many popular brands to visit in Times Square like American Eagle, Champs Sports, Hollister, Nike, Adidas, etc. We usually have no controversy between which stores to look through because we wear alike brands. I made a couple purchases of shoes and a sweatshirt from the Nike store before we left Times Square to go to Little Italy. When I come to New York City, I always stop at Little Italy because of their delicious bakery and their magnificent restaurants. In recent discussions of where to eat lunch, a …show more content…
We felt like we were eating in a rainforest on top of a tree. I could smell the fresh pasta coming from the kitchen. I ordered the chicken parmigiana dinner with ziti. It had a special taste to it when I added the grated cheese. It was a magnificent time for us and even my friend Ricky agreed. After we left the restaurant, we decided to get some dessert because Italian bakery in New York is very delicious. We came across a bakery called Ferraro’s which was crowded with people. The eclair and chocolate cannoli was extremely good. It was worth the half hour wait in line.
We visited the New York University and walked around the campus. I can’t visualize myself living in New York and going to school. In the words of my friend Xavier, his view is that, “It would be astonishing to live here and have a career in New York. Owning a business here would earn you tremendous profits.” My own view is that having a career in New York would be satisfying because of the significant pay but you would live an exhausting life. I wouldn’t be able to live in a rowdy and congested

My childhood in New York City was very difficult for me. I grow up in a predominantly Hispanic Dominican decent neighborhood in the upper Manhattan area called Washington Heights. Washington Heights in the early 1990’s was the heart of the drug trade. At one point in the 1990’s it was considered one of the worst neighborhoods to raise a child. I remember in the news, the news anchor reported that New York City was recognized as the crime capital in the 1950's through the early 1990's.…

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

These familiar faces were always close to my heart, however they were not always in reach.…

Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…
