Personal Narrative: My Trip To Detroit Mountain

My Trip to Detroit Mountain:

It all started about 1 year ago, when the 8th grade went on the bus to get to Detroit Mountain. It was 6 A.M., and I was exhausted. Reason being, I had to wake up at 5 A.M. to get myself through my morning routine and still get there on time. The ride there took an hour and a half (But if felt like 3 hours). Then the real bullcrap starts to take place.

After I got there I spent an hour getting past the bunny hill so I could be allowed to go on the other hills. I finally got to actually ski with my friends. Did I mention they didn’t give us the ski poles (The sticks people use to slow down when skiing). THEY DIDN’T GIVE US THE FREAKIN SKI POLES!!! This means that it was expected for people to crash consistently.

I was driven back on something I can only assume to be a snow mobile of some sort; They looked at my arm; and they informed me that my elbow was probable swollen, but should still be examined by a doctor. I had to sit out for the last hour of the trip. When we were returning from the trip, It turned out that 2 students broke an arm, another one broke their leg, and another one broke his arm and his collar bone. Don’t quote me on this because It’s been a while.

Later, when we had my elbow examined under an X-ray, It turned out that my elbow wasn’t just swollen, It was literally cut in half. IT. WAS. CUT. IN. HALF. (There’s a good chance you know who I am by now.) I had to get surgery because of this. they ended up stabbing placing a “pin” in my arm. (More like a railroad spike the size of my finger, for those who’ve seen my X-ray pictures.) That rock was evil. EVIL I TELL YOU! I bet It’s still laughing at me even as your reading this.

Anyways, I had to take a weekly physical therapy session so I could gain mobility back into my arm. It turns out that keeping your arm in a cast for 2 weeks severely hinder your movement ability on that said arm. In the end, I lost 5 Degrees of movement on my left arm.

Needless to say, I still really enjoyed the trip and am excited to return to Detroit Mountain this

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

Ever since my first backpacking trip 6 years ago, I’ve had an affinity for the Appalachian Trail. I’m constantly looking for excuses to mash our lives into the giant, 50 liter bags, and hit the trail for a few days. This past year, in early fall, I convinced my parents to don their sturdy boots and disappear into the wilds of bear state park with me for three days. We were dropped off at the top of Bear Mountain and, while my parents argued over directions, I wandered around the windswept ridge.…

My recurrent shoulder dislocations were a constant battle, but a battle in which I’d always won. After a dislocation, all it took was a couple weeks of physical therapy before I could return to the baseball field. Although, after my fifth dislocation I ended up sitting in the hospital awaiting the results of my MRI with an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. My surgeon soon returned with news that my injury required a season-ending surgery. Thus, I had a Bankart Repair on my throwing shoulder, and afterwards, although devastated, I supported my teammates from the sidelines for the entirety of the season.…
