Everyone looked disgusted by the sound of eating chicken feet so no one wanted to do it. We all have never tried it before but the leaders said it is popular to eat it in China. One boy in the group decided to try it and immediately he gave it away. After a while I decided to try it because I thought if it is popular here, it must be good. I did not want to be rude and look disgusted by it so I gave it a try. At first I was nervous to try it but then after eating it I came to conclude that I did not like it. In class 5 I have learned that Food can be tied with Culture and Identity. I have also learned about cultures language through food, “Farb and Armelagos liken a cuisine to a culture’s language-a system of communication that is inculcated from birth, if not before, and is hard to change of learn one you are grown.” (Belasco, 30). Certain foods can be tied with cuisines because of availability, and what people find to be culturally appropriate. In the United States, people typically disgare chicken feet because people are usually not grown up eating it or have seen people eat it. In the other hand, people in China have grown up eating and seeing people eat chicken feet so for them it is socially acceptable. I asked my friend from China if she has had chicken feet and if it is normal for her to see people eat it. She said she has had it and found it to be delicious and if she sees someone eat it she has the same feeling as if someone had noodles, it is normal.
