Personal Narrative: Morningstar

Placed strategically in the middle of a developing neighborhood is a park named after the specific community, Morningstar. Throughout the years spent at the middle school, this park was essentially my home away from home, as my closest friends and I walked there on an almost daily occasion and spent hours upon hours there. To most, this plot of land was merely just a place to take their children, but it was everything to us. This was no extraordinarily spectacular park by any means; the actual playground was quite modest, and the rest of the area dedicated was just grass with a couple of bench swings. It was by no means over-the-top, but even so, Morningstar Park was a place of comfort for all of us. Late in the afternoon of August 19th, 2012, my group of friends, including Caity Elwell, Kyle and Cora Cielinksi, Matthew Jokela, Quinne Ingemansen, Alex Bertsch, and Kali Killmer, reconvened at the park. I experienced a vast spectrum of emotions at this park, and I believe that is why it is such a significant place to me. Morningstar Park is still the spot that I find myself lingering towards if I ever have a bad day or if I am ever feeling nostalgic. This is the place where I met lifelong friends and learned lifelong lessons. The park was the spot where I learned who my true friends are: those that are still an important aspect of my life to this day. This is where I learned lessons of heartbreak and restoration. Most importantly, the park is where I learned who I truly am on the inside; those around me brought out my best character traits, even in the worst of times. Morningstar Park was the spot where my first true group of friends flocked to during our time together. I will be forever grateful that such an average, mundane place has been transformed into a space full of magic that I can always cling
