Personal Narrative Essay : My Memories Of Chocolates

Improved Essays
Have you ever had an exciting day that you wish would have never ended? I have many fun memories, but a small selection of worthwhile memories. I might forget the small memories, but I certainly will never forget my selection of memories because those mean everything to me. When I am sad, I can easily access these memories. These memories will always be in a special place in my heart. This kind of memory lasts a lifetime.

One of my favorite memories started like this. I was sad to leave 4th grade, leave all my teachers that I loved, but I was also excited to start 5th grade. One of the reasons I was excited was science camp. Every 6th grader always talked about how fun science camp was, and that was my little dream for a little 10-year-old. Tradition is a very important part in hispanic cultures. These traditions can help people find themselves and they can repress people. The role of tradition is a huge theme in “Like Water for Chocolate” that causes problems. One example is Mama Elena’s tradition that Tita must stay with her until death. Tradition causes repression because Tita can’t reach her full potential when she’s being held back by tradition.…

That was until I found a recipe on how to make some chocolate chip cookies and said, “I can totally do this!” an hour and a half later, (yes ... I struggled) and with some guidance of my mother, a batch of cookies popped out of the oven. I was scared at first to let anybody try them because they looked quite horrid, but as soon as the first daredevil, my older brother, tried this twelve-year-old’s cookies he immediately smiled, shoved the remaining cookie into his mouth, and grabbed another two.…

Middle School Mid-Life Crisis Middle school, a time of cringe worthy moments and regret. I like to refer to this story as my “Middle School Mid-Life Crisis”, since I questioned the purpose of going to school almost every day, and never felt motivated to do anything. Dreading almost every day of school, not having stable mental, emotional, or physical health, and feeling dissatisfied with myself as a student. My mind set was always on countdown mode, “I just have to make it through this class period. I only have 20 more problems to do.”…

When I was about six years old, my friends who were about 12 or 13 at the time invited me to the baseball field. The one bad part was that to get to the baseball field we had to cross a major road to get there, but at least there was a light. My parents told me I could only go if we were being driven, but I went anyway. It was scary crossing the street, mostly because we did not cross at the crosswalk. We were too lazy to walk down the neighborhood and cross at the light.…
