Maui Like Never Before

Traveling to new and tropical places has always been a passion of mine. When I think of the word “vacation,” the first three things that come to mind are airports, hotel rooms, and the electrifying beach activities. Not too long ago, I took my third trip to Hawaii with my parents and my amazing boyfriend, Trey. Not only was it enjoyable, but it was an unforgettable experience filled with an abundance of happiness and laughter.
On March 23rd at 4 am the first alarm went off, which meant it was time to make our way to the airport for our trip of a lifetime. It is typically not like me to be capable of waking up so early, but sacrificing beauty sleep is always worth it if it means you end up on a sandy beach by

To begin with, paddle boarding looks incredibly easy, but that’s only when you are paddling in a calm lake beside the ocean, as opposed to being on the waves in the ocean. Eagar as ever, I trot my way into the water with no idea of what I am doing. All I know is that I've watched it on social media before, and figured that it couldn’t be that hard. Besides, I wanted to know what I was I was missing out on. When I first got on the board after pushing it out far enough, it didn’t seem too hard, but then I decided to stand up and that’s where the true challenge came. Standing up on a paddle board while getting sloshed around by the waves is as equally as hard as trying to balance on a bike while it is standing still. When I finally gained the courage to stand up, I quickly fell straight into the crashing waves. At that point, I decided to just relax on the board for a bit. When laying on the board I started to think about how thankful I felt to be able to experience the finer things in life, even if it’s followed by what

Growing up in Hawaii, you're faced with multiple fun opportunities. For my self born in Kamuela of the Big island, being in the center of the island opened up many doors to many different activities. I grew up on a long narrow road that had many bumps and pot holes up and down the entire road. At the top of the road there was a small grade hill that I would bomb with a skateboard. My house was about three quarters the way down the road.…

Hawaii, the home of white sand beaches, pro surfing, hula dances, and warm weather. If I could move to any region within the United States, I would move to Hawaii with no hesitation. Hawaii contains a prestigious hospital and the opportunity to become a surfer. Both of which of which I have always dreamed of being a part in. Nothing would make me happier than becoming an orthopedic surgeon operating out of a Hawaiian hospital working on shark attack victims and other unlucky victims who need orthopedic repair, then go straight to the beach to surf and relax for the remainder of the day.…

A metaphor to thoroughly interpret my own cultural identity would be the coconut delicacy known as Haupia. Not only for its elegant perplexion, but for the soft clouded stature that belongs to this alien creature, which taste is only permitted to the fortunate few occupying the native islands of Hawaii. Another perplex root in the tree of my culture is Lei-making. The breathtaking row of an aligned set of flowers to form the Lei is one of the prime connections to the base of the hawaiian culture by contributing to the ancient craft itself. A more well-known phenomenon that had one of its origins among the islands of Hawaii and is still dwelled upon to this day is surfing.…
