Mr. Leach on the other hand from the day I meet her was different, I felt a sense of belonging when I first attended her class. I remember one time I had a problem with my class schedule and Ms. Leach was actually very busy grading finals. I mentioned to her about the problem I had with my class schedule and she told me she can help she didn’t say another day. She asked me to sit down while she makes a call to the office, the problem still was not solved so, after I had gone home Ms. Leach called me about two time to inform me of what was going on. There were many incidents where I turned to Ms. Leach and there was never a time where she told me she can help some other day. Leach never wants to see a student giving up. I remember enrolling in piano class, it seemed interesting since I’ve never tried anything like it before. Two days into that class and I couldn’t stand it. Once I was sitting in a class with the piano on the desk, trying to read the notes and learn the song. I couldn’t hold on to that one tear. I felt like Joan Didion who wrote “Why I Write”. She mentioned that when she would sit down to write her book her mind would doze off and would start wondering about other things (171). I too tried to focus but, it was too intense and my mind simply would not cooperate. I had a talk with Ms. Leach and I explained everything. I also asked her if it was too late to take another class instead. At that moment the way Adrienne Rich in her essay “Claiming an Education” wrote about women’s right and equality and she gave many examples as to what will happen if women are not a part of events (27). That is the way Ms. Leach was using powerful words and telling me I cannot give up on anything. Ms. Leach also used many examples saying that If I were to give up now I will soon be making that choice in life often. Soon her persuasion had won over my thoughts of giving
