According to Greta Foff Paules on relationship between customer and waitress, (server and served) is different from the way we think. Normally the customers believe they are always right and have the authority to be the one in charge. According to Greta Foff Paules such thinking is naïve. Customers understanding of waitresses differ from waitresses understanding of their roles code of noninterference- prevent waitresses from openly objecting to irregularities. Waitresses refrain from criticizing one another, but rather direct it on the customers to reflect their feelings and get what they need (ie.…

Restuarants are allowed to pay their tipped employees far less than minimum wage, and as a result, server's income depends mostly, and in some cases entirely, on tips. Many people believe that employers should have to pay tipped employees minimum wage, and there are good arguments on both sides of the issue. It seems strange that a person's paycheck would be dependent on the generosity of the people they serve. Technically tipping is not required, and unless they have worked in a restuarant themselves, people might not realize how important it is to a servers income. Despite this fact, the tradition of tipping is very established, and servers recieve a relatively consistent paycheck.…

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

To compensate for the loss of tips, menu prices are likely to increase and even a service fee will be included. Of course, the customers will not be happy with these changes. Now, the server can stand there and list all the reasons for the overall increase of their bill, but it does not mean that the patron will listen. After all, people come for a good meal, not to hear a persuasive speech. By adopting a new system such as this, restaurants should be aware of the losses that comes with it.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

There are several experiences in my life where I have felt that I was treated in an unfair manner, but the most recent of those experiences is the one that occurred to me only months prior to this application. Up until the beginning of November of this year, I used to believe that being a great and successful student would be the most rewarding accomplishment of my senior high career. As a result of this, I unwisely assumed that the most important thing in my life was how well I could do on the next test. I spent a meager amount of my time involved in anything else aside from my homework or studying; expecting to be fairly remunerated for a majority of my hard work. Earlier this year, I was indeed rewarded with an application to National Honors…
