It was our last practice before the weekend we could feel the energy brewing amongst us. The pitch was filled with players, coaches, equipment, and the smell of freshly cut grass ready for it to be turned upside down. After the whistle blew on the first half we knew that the second half was going to be a lot tougher, the coach wanted to see the forwards break there forward pack if we were going to win. The second half begun again, and they scored within the first 5 minutes the score was tied at 21-21 and the clock was running down. There was a brief moment when the captain called us together and said, “this is our moment to shine, we show this school that they should have never stepped foot on our turf”. The last play of the game and we could see the coach from the corner of our eyes tell us “FORWARDS” we were getting ready for a scrum. As we crouched down the players from Shanghai were beat and exhausted in this moment we all knew what to do. The ball came in there was moaning and groaning from both teams we could feel the ball moving back towards our players. All of a sudden the ball was out in a flash and was passed to my teammate next to me, I grabbed his shirt and ran for our lives. There were four of us running down the sideline passing the ball between us we could see the try line just inches in front of us. As I was tackled I felt my teammate behind me quickly grab the ball, as I looked up flat on my back all I could see was his number and his cleats passing the try

My ankles continued to glitch mid-walk and never seemed to catch up to the pace of my nervously moving feet. The brisk feeling of the summer air continued to whisk into my face as I adjusted my floppy hair in order to see the path in front of me. I could feel every ounce of sweat that was dripping down my face onto the soft turf. My own blinking sped up and produced water that squeezed through the sides of my eyes. The sight of the goal and ball in front of me were now blurry, and the familiarization with the very object that I’ve grown up with, diminished in front of me.…
