Personal Narrative Essay: My Interest In Skateboaring

Some kids are interested in video games. Some kids are interested in baseball or in musical instruments. Some kids are interested in drawing and painting, but I was not one of these kids. I was interested in skateboarding. As a kid I was captivated by professional skateboarders flying through the air, spinning around on the back wheels and . Though I lost interest in the skateboard as a middle school student over the past two years it has become an obsession again.
Skateboarding captivates me because of the tricks. Moving my feet in certain ways will make the board move, when ollieing slide the front foot off the front tail, to kickflip (ollie with a rotation around not a circle motion). landing a trick smoothly it feels good and it’s the primary reason why skateboarding takes up my time. Take maybe jumping with skates on or maybe a bunny hop on a bike, there's not much of a difference. Other things like grinding or slides are fun as well. A grind is to ollie with the board onto something hard like a corner of a ledge or a handrail, then continue moving with the trucks of the board down or across the object. Slides are almost exactly the same just with the board itself. When I was younger grinding above small sewer grates on the side of a road was fun for me. Me and my friends would dare each other to do

I just want to learn more and be able to do all of it. I want to share my experiences with the world and receive feedback. Skateboarding gives me goals, and while I’m going for these goals I’m becoming more active and having fun. Before I started skateboarding my daily schedule looked like, wake up, work, game, sleep. I think skateboarding has been an improvement for me. I realize that a lot of people associate skateboarding and vandalism or crime together. This isn't fair to a lot of us because most of us has never done anything wrong but because we have a skateboard we are looked down
