So the first school I looked into was a Riverview Junior High School, this school is part of the Murray School District. The website for this school was very basic, which I think is much better than having too many things that can overwhelm people with too much information. It is a clean look and makes it easy for parents who are looking to find out information. One thing that I really liked that I found was that the school offers what’s called plus time. Plus time is a 25 minute block of time built into the class schedule four times per week. The time is used to provide supplemental instruction to students that need additional help, time for homework completion, and opportunities to participate in enrichment activities. Also everything is broken down to the lunch times and bell times. This way the parent knows exact time, also there is a calendar, which shows everything that is going on at the school. On the welcome page, they have a news of the school as well. This way the parents are involved already, because they know about the schools activities. One of the most crucial components in the foundation of a parent- teacher and parent and the school partnership is communication, and the ability to communicate freely (Gestwicki, 155). Overall, I think a very informative website, but for more information the parents do have to go and meet in person, which I think is always the best option.
