Personal Narrative Essay: My First High School Athlete

It is everyone's dream to get a spot in the starting line up for a varsity sport, especially as a freshman. That was me. Preparing myself as an 8th grader for my first high school softball open gym. That's all I could think about all day during school that day. Finally getting a chance to just be in an open gym with the girls I've been watching play for three years, even though I still had a year before I was in high school. That was me.
I stepped into the gym palms sweating, heart racing. Two short claps of coach telling us to get stretched out. I could not wait. I grabbed my tee and set up my ball.
