Personal Narrative Essay: My First Family Trip To America

When I was 6 years old my mom Jaclyn Duffy (Aguirre at the time), my dad Alvaro Aguirre, and I Kaitlyn Aguirre were planning our first family trip. My dad’s family wanted to meet my mother and I. He had his relatives in Illinois and his parents, siblings, niece, aunts and uncles in El Salvador which was located in Central America. So, we had decided to plan our trip to head to both places, we packed everything that we had needed. We drove down to Illinois to meet my 2nd cousins ??? It was scary at first being on such a long drive, and I was so nervous to meet them, they were people that I didn’t know at all. When we arrived they all greeted us, I met Teresa Perez, Ernesto, Perez who were the parents of my 2nd cousins, then I met Yasmin Perez, Alba Perez, Roxsana Perez, Daniella Perez, and Ernesto Jr Perez he preferred to be called just Junior which I thought was a whole lot easier. It was early in the morning when we arrived. From what I was used to seeing it was very different, there were lots of mountains, when someone was talking I couldn’t understand them at all. It seemed like when they were having a conversation they were yelling at each other because of how loud they talked. A man came and got us who was related to my dad somehow, he took us all the way up to the mountains to where my grandparents lived. We walked up to the two houses and my dad introduced my mother and I to my dad’s mom and dad, we then met my aunt and uncles, Nito Aguirre, Herman Aguirre, Gloria Aguirre, Consuela Aguirre, and Rosita Aguirre and my cousin Gloria’s daughter Esmeralda.
