It somewhat made up for the mediocre journey. When I entered the room, my jaw dropped. I come from one of the wealthier families in Chicago, but I did not grow up spoiled, I knew how to appreciate nice things. Plus, my family’s wealth was no comparison to what Adelaide Eccles family obtained. No! This resort’s room didn’t even look like a hotel room. It looked more like a mansion built into this eleven story skyscraper. I tried not to act too overwhelmed at the size of this place, but I did not succeed because Adelaide quickly reminded me I was still going to be staying in here with her. I don’t know if she saw the coat rack right next to her, but she still threw her fur shawl into my arms like I was her servant, causing me to come back to realization. I think the only reason she brought that stupid thing to this suffocatingly humid place was to impress Cael. Cael is Adelaide’s “friend”. Since our plane had gotten in so late, and I was exhausted from the nine hours spent with Adelaide in a day, we quickly got settled in and fell daintily asleep on the pillows made of fluffy alpaca fur. The squid was finishing up his meal and swam away with a look of pride in it’s eyes. Later, I watched as Navy Seals swam down to the bottom of the ocean floor, probably looking for my remains. All that was left was my head. My hair swaying with the current and my eyes bloodshot and awake. It was a sight I couldn’t stand and neither could the seals. They couldn’t bear to look at such a tragic sight. With one glance at each other and muffled noised through their microphones. They headed for the surface again. I joined them with a sense of curiosity. When we emerged I was mistaken. For although no one could save me in the moment, it seemed like the whole military was on the beach. All spectators had been cleared out and the only people I recognized was Cael, our tour guide, Adelaide’s father, and of course the wretched witch herself. Although, Adelaide didn’t look as put together as she always did. Instead she looked like a hot mess, but it wasn’t even hot, just the mess part. Her eyes were wide open. She hadn’t blinked probably since she got out of the water. There were no tears
