Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

(In case you didn’t know, Montana gets really, really cold at night. Even if it normally doesn’t become quite so frigid, it did that night. I was not prepared and froze while my over-prepared tent mate of a cousin boiled in her-older brother’s-fancy sleeping bag.) From there, it was a short drive out to the lake and an even shorter trip to the rocky, miniature forest of an island in the center. We unpacked and ate food that was somewhat healthy.…

I have never been so embarrassed before. We were in my seventh grade health class when our teacher told us that we are doing the FitnessGram Pacer Test. I blankly stared at him for a good minute then all of it fell upon me. My hearing was blocked, palms began to sweat, while unconsciously biting my nails and shaking my right leg. As my throat began to dry, adrenaline decided to take over my unsteady body.…

I bit my lip and tried the scale again. I felt my fingers fly through the progression, and I played the phrase just as my mind imagined it should sound. I rested my hands and waited for my teacher, Ms. Julie to respond. We had been practicing this piece exclusively in preparation for my audition to a prestigious middle school for the performing arts. I was intimidated by the audition as it was, but I was beginning to feel more intimidated by my teacher.…

Narrative Essay One tremendously windy Monday morning, the sky shifted gloomy shades of grey above my home in the land of 10,000 lakes: Minnesota. My loathsome alarm yet again woke me with its vexatious sound, as it does Monday through Friday. It took me an unpleasant 30 minutes to get myself out of bed and into the shower. After showering and picking out a nice cozy outfit, I dashed upstairs to grab a quick breakfast before heading to an early choir rehearsal.…

As the bell rang at the end end of sixth hour at school everybody was in a rush to get to the buses, their cars, or their bikes and head home. I packed up my stuff and thanked the teacher as nobody ever does. As I left the room I realized that it was Friday and that I get to go to my dad’s house for the weekend. The thought was both exciting and exhausting stating the fact that his little homestead was out in the middle of Wonder Valley, California basically a desert wasteland but very peaceful and wondrous and that I had to ride my bike for miles and miles to get there. As I hopped on my bike and before riding off I took a drink of water and made sure I had my phone.…

My Junior year of high school was my challenging year, the reason to that is because we had to study for our Act also we had our grad MCAs to take. I must say it was really difficult knowing that we had those two big major tests in the same week. The amount of studying was ridiculous but in my head for a whole two months I was reminding myself that it will benefit me in the future that I need this to graduate. One part I didn 't have to worry was a portion of the MCA like the Algebra part. But the part that was extremely hard for me was geometry.…

As a teenager I have never thought about what the hardest, or best part of being a teen has been, I usually just live with it because it is my life and it is everyday. Sitting here, thinking about it, being a teen is one of the hardest stages of life, but it's also one of the best. I would say it's hard because you are expected to act like an adult, all emotions are everywhere and everything you do as a teen defines you as an adult. It could be the best because your not treated like a baby no more, people trust you to make the right decision and you get more freedom. Even though it can be a hard time i would say that you always have people around you who will always be there for you, they will always have your back.…

Each year, a pilgrimage to the Florida or Alabama gulf coast is a highly anticipated and enjoyed event for my family. In the beginning, it was just my wife and I. Man oh man, these trips were some of the most relaxing times that I can remember. Now, our yearly “beach fest” includes our two children, Kaylee and Garrett. While this is still a wonderful family event, I no longer use the phrase “relaxing”. Elbert Hubbard once said, “No man needs a vacation so much as the man who just had one”.…
