Personal Narrative Essay: Leah's Growing Up

Decent Essays
I remember growing up, I would always go outside and play with this little girl name Leah even though she was 2 years younger than me. Growing up people would tell us we might as well be sisters because we, spent every min of the day with each other, running around getting into trouble. When I was 9 she moved to a different house with her daddy. In 2011, Leah and I lost contact fully due to everybody moving to a different city or different part of town. In the middle of Feb her mother, sister and her niece moved down the street from my grandmother. I went over there mostly every day to babysit her niece and to hang out with her sister. Even though Leah wasn’t over there or came over a lot I still kept in contact with her sister and mother

GROWING UP Growing up, I didn’t have many luxuries, if any. The best thing I had was being a 5 minute walk away from a convenience store. The house I grew up in was infested with cockroaches and was falling apart within the walls. The dining room was so small, some of us had to eat on the floor. We only had three bedrooms, so my three younger siblings had to sleep in the living room.…

Growing up in a family that did not communicate that much, I was not very close with my mother of father. My mom and I did tend to talk more but not about personal things in our life. Me and my dad however always fought. I have a few good memories with him (he loved teaching me how to make home made biscuits.) which I always enjoyed on those rare occasions he was in a good mood. But, 90% of the time we were fighting.…

The Truth of Growing Up As a child all I wanted to do is just grow up and be an adult. As I grew older and taken on more responsibilities, I realized that growing up is not all that exciting and is actually difficult. In the final year of high school when college is the big stress, all the teachers want is to prepare us for the long papers, difficult tests and more stress. In the back of mind I’m thinking, wow this is going to be stressful, I don’t want to go to college anymore. Well my wish came true…

The first thing I noticed when I walked into Jasmine Middle School was how big the eighth graders were. I knew that in middle school the sixth graders would be the babies, but it was still kind of a shock at how big eighth graders really were; well, at least I hoped the kids I was looking at were eighth graders. If the group of kids hanging out by the lockers were seventh graders, then eighth graders must be huge. Luckily, after looking around for a few seconds, I spotted my best friend, Georgina Larson by the water fountain. She’s never hard to find, because her hair is light blonde, and she’s always wearing really flashy outfits.…

Surrounded by a team of nurses, one doctor, and what seemed to be a grouping of blinding lights, I had a peculiar moment of serenity. I can’t quite explain whether it was the epidural or the fact that for twelve hours my body was engulfed by excruciatingly painful contractions which seemed to be attacking me in a sporadic manner, but in that one moment everything was perfect. Somehow I just let go off every single fear I had, I just remembered that in any moment there would be an extraordinary occurrence. Although a natural part in many women’s lives, since the beginning of time, it was a phenomenon in my life.…

A few years ago like when I was 11 or 12 a lot of things were going through my mind of growing up and being a teenager. I knew this was going to be a big step for me and my surroundings, but I was ready for it. A thing that I always kept in my mind was turning 15 fast because my parents were always really strict with us. One of the things that they didn't let us do is put on makeup or paint our nails. I hated that because all my friends would do it and I was the only one that wasn't allowed to.…
