Improved Essays
It was twelve at night on a cold, winters evening. The wind and rain pounding on the small glass panes of my best friend, Jacob Luke’s cabin. We were in the middle of nowhere. Searching for sleep, but just couldn't find it.
November 26th, 1999. My friend Jacob and I set off to a camping trip to Cypress Creek, in Mansford, Washington. Well, it was with the whole 8th grade from our school. We had only one large School Bus, which was old, nasty and cold. There wasn’t a lot of 8th graders my school. It was called Ghetto High because many of the kids there were involved with the police often and especially drugs. The teachers said the trip was four hours to the camping site and four to get back to the school. We were going to be there for four

Walcom to the Cyprass Creek. I’m George DewHart. Y’all have a goo ol’ time here, this week. This camp is fulled with acres of darn good places to play ‘round with y’all friends...”
After he talked for what seemed like an hour, we finally got our luggage and headed for our cabins.
“Y’alllllll!!!!” Jacob screamed out of the blue. Everyone started to laugh. “Y’all have a goo ol’ time here!!!” Jacob mimicking the creepy old man again. If you couldn't tell by now, Jacob is the class clown. Usually everyday at school, everyone is ferocious and bitter. It was about 11P.M. now. I’ve been wake from 5A.M. this morning and I am so, so tired. I’m lying in my sleeping bag on a mattress with only three kids in the room. Luckily it was quite big. I started to fall asleep. My eyes closed. Two seconds later I heard a huge *SLAM* coming from the front door of the cabin. I shot straight up like lightning just struck me. It was dark and quiet. All I heard was crickets chirping away, and a faint sound of running water. Jacob and the two other kids in the cabin were still asleep. *SLAM* there it was again. The brutally loud bang came from the front door again. Jacob shot up and banged his head on the ceiling and fell of the bunk

For three years, Father had refused the idea of leaving North Carolina. But my brother, Ben, sent us another letter, addressed as he always did to John Benjamin Wilks and Katie. In the letter Ben was praising his new farm, the richness of the land and how many more acres he was clearing. He told of the bountiful crops of corn and wheat that he would be reaping in a few weeks, more corn and wheat per acre than Father had ever gotten from our old worn out farm in North Carolina. He told of the abundance of water, game, and timber.…

There’s a little slice of Heaven in Marshall, Texas, where the sun shines through the pines and the sound of cicadas serenade you throughout your afternoon and the lake shines like a plate of polished silver in the early morning sun. When I first came to Camp Fern, I was on my own. Everyone else had known each other for at least two years, so I was the odd one out. In my cabin there was the usual sort. There was the popular one, the attention seeker, the joker, and the one you love to hate.…

It was April 20th, 1999 when a slight breeze filled the sky, enjoying the cool winds I rocketed towards school. Arriving at school, I felt like a log flowing down a river stream, and then suddenly a loud "Bzzzzz" echoed down the halls. The hallways felt like a school of fish viciously running away from a predator hunting them down. In a matter of seconds, everything calmed down and the first period started. A sudden rumbling sound came out from my stomach, as I anxiously waited for the lunch bell to ring.…
