We had gone through the entire regular season undefeatedand and we had just won the semi-finals and were going up against a team in the finlals we had beat in the regular season. Finally after three days the day of our long awaited game arrived. I carpooled to the game with my freind and we talked about the game the whole drive there. How am I to show this coach that I’m worth starting with such little time? I transferred to Apex Friendship second semester, my sophomore year right before the start of the lacrosse season. Every player had months of pre-season workouts to show the coach their skills while I had only two weeks to prove I was better than the players he had already been watching for months. I put in as much work that was possible by running fast, playing hard and smart. I needed this coach to see that I had the IQ as well as the ability to play at a higher level than the other guys.…

The shot clock went off and before you knew it we had lost. The Huskies actually lost in the championship, and unable to go undefeated for another season. We were shocked, some of us even in tears. We saw the Heat hold the trophy as we received our 2nd place medals, which meant nothing coming from winning so much. We walked out of that gym with our heads down and in disbelief.…

Growing up in a small town, where success in the girl’s softball program was excellent, it was every little girl's dream to be a part of that program. When I was a little girl I remember sitting in the stands watching the varsity softball team play thinking about the day when I would get the opportunity to be a part of the program. As I grew older I would think to myself, if I had the chance to play for the program would I excel like all the other girls have done in the past years? Also, I dreamt, as any little girl would, of how breathtaking it would be to be the person who won the game for a state championship title.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

I was never a sporty kid. For the majority of my childhood, my hobbies have included reading, playing video games, and other generic nerd activities. If you had asked me if I wanted to play a sport, I would have laughed at the prospect, so I surprised even myself when I answered yes to my mother’s inquiry about joining my school’s new flag football team. I worried about it for the weeks leading up to the first practice, but eventually I decided “Why not? It may end up being fun.”…

Then, I started playing basketball in high school as part of my school’s team and I’ve been playing ever since.
