I will; I Seek was performed and choreographed by Mariana Orozco Arango, who costumed the work herself and collaborated with three musicians, and a lighting designer, to help create her piece. All aspects are crucial in understand, analyzing, and interpreting Arango’s work. Throughout her solo, Arango passionately, chaotically, and desperately seems to search for something as she frantically propels herself through space. Specifically, the intimate size of the flexible stage and black box theatre, creates a close community throughout the audience.…

Boneyard Garden Exploration Cemeteries do not frighten me; they are serene places that are frequently neglected until a new tenant comes to reside. Unlike some individuals I know, I would not mind if I lived next door to one. It is not as if the occupants are going to be climbing up from their plot and banging on my door asking for a cup of tea with a bit of sugar. The notion of my demise does make me uneasy, but no one can elude death.…

I do have a preference to plan things in advance with a dislike for last minute changes. One of my strengths is that of an organizer. I do disagree with the assessment that I limit myself with new things, as I always challenge myself on multiple fronts as I enjoy and mastered many things that I have involved myself such as cooking, DIY, and many things others will shy from.…

Preface-I didn’t really try to have any structure in this, it is very all over the place. But you told us to do something about what we are interested in tangentially related to the holocaust, It is just unfortunate that what interest me is writing about whatever I want over a 3 hour period in the middle of the night. You won’t learn much, but when you give people this much freedom they will either disappoint you or surprise you and I would rather be surprising. Keep an open mind.…

The Holocaust is the most notorious act of hatred and evil to date. Millions of Jews were brutally persecuted and murdered, because of their religion and decent. Not only were Jews murdered, but many others of different religions and ethnicities had their lives taken. All of this was done because of one mans hatred towards these innocent people. Adolf Hitler was the headmaster of the horrific acts performed in the holocaust.…

It was once said by acclaimed statesman, Edmund Burke, that “Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it”, suggesting that learning history is important because it is the social study of past events and humankind’s accomplishments and times of ignominy. Without history, significant events would not be remembered. One event was the Holocaust, a genocide primarily targeting Jews and later on Slavs, Romans, and the disabled. The Nazi Party and their leader, Adolf Hitler, were responsible for this massacre, which caused around eleven million deaths.…

History to me is fascinating. The people of history lived in a completely different world than we do now, and it sometimes seems unrealistic to imagine their lives. For so many, history is just a list of facts and dates. If people were to really look closely at history they can learn about people, who were just like us, even though they lived in an entirely different era. To be able to connect to someone that lived hundreds or thousands of years ago, in a completely different world is utterly amazing.…

The thing that interest me the most about humanities is the creation of different cultures through the help of many different historical figures. I know of many different important people in history such as Alexander the Great, Aristotle, Plato, Julias Cesar, and so on.. I want to learn about how these different people singlehandedly developed different societies and cultures the way that they did. When I was young I took a large interest in history even in elementary school I always found the history lessons to be the most interesting part of the day. Even today I strive to learn more about history in hopes that I can eventually make a life for myself that leaves its own mark on history.…

History is the story of human existence, therefore we can learn how to be better human beings than the human beings that have come before us. We can learn more about ourselves and what makes us human by analyzing historical figures. At the beginning of this semester I thought that I had some great answers for the question about why it is important to study world civilizations. I now find that I only scratched the surface in my first essay. I had some very cliche reasons for studying or teaching history but now I have a deeper connection to history that will allow me to pass that connection on to my future students.…

History is an amazing thing, for those who are alive to experience it, or at least watch it on the news. You get to tell your grandchildren about it and they will probably feign interest as they run off to play with their new electronic entertainment 7000 device. I will always remember where I was when a piece of american history took place, little more than a decade ago, my parents took me Disney World, a place where nothing ever goes wrong and everyone is always happy. The first couple days we were there, were mostly my parents trying to keep up with two toddlers desperately trying to make it to the next nap time. After two days of this, on a sunday morning, my baby brother and I, who isn’t much of a baby anymore at 6’3”, were…

I am fascinated by history. I find this subject compelling because of how much it is overlooked, and also because by engaging with historical texts and stories, one is able to experience life vicariously through others in different time periods. By digging into history one can fight alongside the peasants in the French Revolution, explore new frontiers, and protest for social justice in the 1960s. Individuals can witness the brilliance of the Library of Alexandria, and can help in the construction of The Great Pyramids, all without moving from your seat. Reading about any of these events are priceless, but getting to feel as though you have lived and experienced the event is absolutely irreplaceable.…

When trying to figure out who you are, your answer should not be limited to simply who you are as an individual, but should also include your interactions with others. We are given our lifetime to spend time with ourselves for reflection and time to spend with others. We should take advantage of both because they allow people to find out who they are through deep reflection, and through interactions with others than can help shape us into the people we are. During times of self reflection, we can think about what others see in us, and compare that to how we see ourselves. Alone time also allows individuals to experience things on their own without influences or coercions of others.…
