A little girl with a love of dancing may one day wish to become a professional dancer; captivating crowds with her grace and elegance. I developed a love of basketball from those bits and pieces.
The moment I fell in love with basketball was when my father took me to my very first professional basketball game. The New Orleans Hornets were playing the Milwaukee Bucks on this night; January 15th 2007 to be exact. As we entered the arena a cool gush of wind hit my face. In hopes of this, I joined many youth leagues to gain more experience. The Thibodaux Rec League was my first stop where my team captured the league championship. My next league was with the Thibodaux Cardinals, a travel team conducted by Coach Clement. We traveled all throughout south Louisiana playing games weekend after weekend. I came out of this with much more experience that I once had. Lastly, I was a part of a Thibodaux Youth All-Star team where I went up against the best of the best in my age group. I struggled mightly to hold my own during my time with the team. My physical skillset seemed to need some

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

THE EIGHT FOOT CIRCLE “Stand up for what you believe in even if that means standing alone”. When I was younger and got my first opportunity to stand up for myself without anyone pushing me to succeed things didn't go as planned. Although I didn't succeeded I took a lesson from it in the end. “Play ball” the umpire called out as we jogged on to the field. Like every game before I headed for third base.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

The girl’s varsity basketball program at Rockwall High School holds one state championship title, an unbroken district championship record of nearly twelve years and has competed in a total of three state championship games since 2005; the third state championship being in 2011¬, my freshman year. Though I had been playing basketball all my life, I knew I could improve myself after having been on the “B team” in middle school. I was still just discovering how to be fully in control of my long, lanky limbs, but nonetheless, I wanted more than to go out on the court and perform just as skillfully and poised as the girls on our varsity team. I mean they were going to state. They were celebrities in my eyes and they had earned it, too.…

I started my journey in health and fitness at a young age. I was always one of those kids who just could not sit still - so I was into everything, climbing trees, riding bikes, swimming, sports, you name it I was into it. However my discipline to this way of life came when I discovered basketball, it was when I was about 13/14 and shot up to practically the height I am now, so my teachers said why don't you try and develop your skills as a basketball player as I was taller than most of my teachers at 13 which lead them to think I'd grow to be some kind of 7 foot giant, but unfortunately that didn't happen, would've been cool though.…
