My Special Place Research Paper

Growing up in my childhood, I never really made a lot of friends. In my early years of education, I was very sociable, but to my dismay, people just didn’t seem the friendly type. I never really did feel safe in the school district. That being said, there was only one place that I would always go to relax and get the stress of my mind, and that would be my humble abode, my home. Because I walked to school on a regular basis, I always knew where to go, even during the renovations. I mean, I could never miss the area, a light blue house right across the street from a Kraft factory. The front yard had a very large pine tree in the front yard, the bottom half full of life and the top bared to nothing but twigs and death. The front porch was white …show more content…
Relieved that I was finally able to relax from all the school stress. The first place I would go into was the dining room and kick off my shoes as the dining room table was usually the place to be when it came to homework, even though I was usually the only person to bring any home, which gave me a feeling of some sort of leadership. The dining room table was usually on the left side of the room when you walked in from the front door, stood sort of lower than normal, had a worn down auburn brown shade from all the antics, and, at the time, began to give off a scent of something that I cannot describe as other than the word “old”. Adjacent to the dining room was our family room, or living room. Deemed to me as “the room with the most fun”, most of the family activities happened in here. Aside from watching television and chatting, our family regularly had an obsession with board games. We would bring over one of our side tables and play games such as Uno, Poker, non gambling of course, even Chutes and Ladders and Candyland. All games were accepted here. During the games, it was always heartwarming to see my mother and siblings laugh and have fun, aside from all of the non stop …show more content…
Because I never lived with my father, I learned everything I know today from her. She was the type that was not afraid to pick a fight with anybody teasing her young ones. After she gave birth to my sister, my mother could not have any more children, but that didn’t stop her motherly love. Since then, she gained custody of my three cousins, whom I consider brothers, and became a foster mother for six years. Her “never say die” attitude rubbed off on me to say the least as I know live in the same attitude. People would always come up to me and praise my mother for all the joy she created and every time she would enter a room, the atmosphere would always fill up with livelihood, always. Her intuitiveness and attitude has inspired me to be the very person I am today, a rough-shot, aspiring sports entertainment Superstar who will stop at nothing to get what he

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym.…

I say high to everyone and then walk back through the Sasquatch sized door and walk down the hall to the living room. As I enter the room I 'm greeted by a sweet citrusy pine smell that makes the setting complete. I sit down facing the tree looking beyond into the black abyss and twinkling lights. I pull out my grandpas fly fishing book like I do every year. I read the cover, “ The Complete Angler” by James Prosek.…

On the other hand, my mother was very closed and private. This idea of raising pure girls, marriage, and pregnant after marriage was an achievement. “I found this confusing because my parents never had a sex talk with me and it hurt to think they had such little trust in me. Years later, my mom would brag to her friends how her girls ‘didn’t have to get married because they were pregnant.’ She consider this a personal achievement,” (Pg. 72,…

Although I always bothered her and was probably the most annoying little sister ever, whenever I needed anything I went to her and she helped me without any objection. She was basically like my third parent. I didn’t realize how much she actually did for me until she moved out. Since my sister was born first, my parents were a lot more strict with her than they were with me. She wasn’t allowed to do much and was raised to be way more responsible than I was.…
