Going Green: A Short Story

Going Green From the time I was old enough to realize there were things in the world that I couldn't understand, I've been fascinated with synchronicity. I've always wanted to know why things happen or why things work the way they do. In the midst of my curiosity, I turned my attention to my inner workings. I wanted to know why I felt the way I felt, or thought the things that I thought. I began to question my religion, my role in society, and the honesty of the people around me. As the days went on, I found it increasingly harder to suppress my inquisitive thoughts. Being the unimaginative person that I am, it was hard to entertain the thoughts that were constantly being brought to my attention. I was in a perpetual state of mind of wanting answers to the vast world around me. Whether they were feasible or not didn't matter; I just wanted answers. With burning lungs, I coughed for what seemed like a lifetime. The second time around though, I felt power surge through my body as the menacing smoke made its way to my newly tainted lungs. The longer we sat there, the more I could feel the harsh tension of the night slip from my thoughts. It started with a heaviness. I felt it deep behind my eyes, and it escalated to euphoric pleasure. I had the uncontrollable urge to giggle in pure bliss as I allowed the thick haze to take over my thoughts. With my normal thought process diminishing, I began to let myself think in ways I had not once thought possible; For the first time in my life, I had the capability to think in an abstractly. I let my mind drift further into the exotic world I had never been able to experience before. In this state of mind, I could make sense of my never-ending curiosity, rationalizing the things that have been taunting my consciousness in most of my formative
