The fur industry has been part of American society even before there was a United States of America. The fur trade likely started when Hudson’s Bay Company was incorporated in 1670 (Dyhouse) and has continued to this day. While fur fashion trends have changed over the years, ranging from felted beaver hats in the mid-19th century, to hats trimmed with whole birds and stuffed kitten heads in the early 20th century, to today’s mink coats, one thing has remained the same; that every piece of fur clothing has come from an animal that was killed for it (Dyhouse). Because of concerns about causing animals to become extinct, furbearing animals have been raised on farms since just after the Civil War (Dyhouse, “Fur Farming in North America”).…

With several animals and plants being the hog’s food, the hogs face no real threat when it comes to predators. Hogs are omnivores that eat anything that crosses their paths. Not only do they eat living animals, but they’ve also been known to eat decaying animals. In a report by Fox news, Jim Lacour states “They are in the marshes and beaches of Louisiana all the way up into the hills and piney woods and swamps, “They’re in every habitat in the state." Later own he also states that they have to perform aerial gunning of the hogs "because they tear up the marsh and that leads to coastal erosion.…

In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the boys all start off innocent with pure intentions of getting off the island, but as time progresses they lose what they have left of their humanity and became savages. They start to not care what happens to each other and only look out for themselves. By not caring they start to do cruel things to each other and the pigs around the island causing them to lose their innocence. The boys lose their innocence because they hunt and kill pigs, they leave “gifts” for the Beast, and they hunt Ralph.…

As I continued singing while weaving thread that formed a silk fabric, I heard footsteps of men approaching. My dear wolves and lions lifted their heads to the movement of the sound. Although my pets’ glare made the men show fear, a group of muscular men with looks that can kill still sent shivers down my spine. After all, a group of men against me, a poor woman, is simply not fair. Plus to that, who do they think they are to come barging into my house in the land of Aeaea with no invitation?…

Did you know bison can grow to 5 or 6 feet tall and can weigh up to 2,500 pounds? They are pretty huge animals, and they look even more ginormous when 5 of them are standing right in front of you. We were in Colorado at the time; enjoying the not unbelievably humid air (unlike Louisiana). We were staying at an RV park right next to an ATV trail; which we planned to ride our ATV on.
