Personal Narrative Essay: Cuprij My First Years Of My Country

This place, where I grew up, learned about the world, experienced my first feelings and where I gained the experiences that will be beneficial for the rest of my life. This place is a small town in my home country in Serbia; it’s called Cuprija. It is a place where I lived the first sixteen years of my life; went to kindergarten, middle school and the first year of high school. Cuprija can be beautiful in some ways, but it is mostly perceived as a ‘negative’ and a ‘bad’ town because of all the crimes that happened in it and because of the local corruption. The kids run outside for the joy of playing in the snow. I was one of those kids, the most memorable was the excitement when me and my friends went to the overpass on the highways so we could do some sledding from the steepness between the highway and the top part of overpass. The cars and the trucks always that passed by always honked at us. Sometimes when we get tired, we lay down under the overpass and just wave at the random drivers. We were risking of cops being called on us, but the fun and excitement made us forget about it. During the spring, when the nature shows its face; this town simply blooms in beauty. It makes you feel that it is worth it to be awake and it makes you very productive, it makes you spend time with your family and friends. We played games outside basically the whole day. Along the many games we played, our favorite was hide and seek with a soccer ball; it is just like normal hide and seek game except we play with a ball, we shoot the ball as hard as we can so the seeker has the time to pick it up while all of use hide. When he sees someone he the seeker has to run back to the ball and yell his name out along with the place where he hid. If the seeker gets too far from the ball, he risks that someone that hides gets to the ball before him and shoots it, this gives the ones that got caught one more chance to run while the seeker
