It was a very gloomy day met with rain. As I stepped outside of the restaurant I walked hurriedly through the puddles of water to my car. As I approached the highway I now saw the few dimming rays of sunlight as the street lights began to beam on. I was very exhausted and ready to get home with no care in the world other than for a shower and bed. As I continued further down the highway I saw a blinking light appearing alongside the road. The form of a man carrying a huge backpack then became visible as my headlights revealed him. I passed him up but then quickly thought to myself, “What if it were me.” At that very thought I turned on my signal light and switched lanes to make a U-turn and then I began to pray. I would not dare trade an of my various life lessons for all the money in the world. Of course it does feel good to help the less fortunate, however on my way home that night I realized how Eric had in fact helped me as well. Prior to this very experience I was merely going through the motions. Not ever expecting to receive anything in return for my generosity. However, Eric was willing and insisted on working for something given to him freely. This experience tugged at my emotions, which is why I will never take charity for
