Whether is was America winning its independence from Britain, or a child being able to stay home alone, becoming independent and breaking away from control has always been significant. Being independent gives someone a sense of pride and lets him/her be in control of what goes on. One of the biggest moments in my life was when I became independent from my parents by getting a job, and paying for my own things. Becoming independent was tough, and at first there were many struggles, like finding a job or balancing my money wisely. However, now that I have one steady job and am in the process of getting another, plus the knowledge I have gained for stretching out a paycheck makes it very simple to support myself as much as I can.
Becoming independent was not as easy as I had imagined. The problems started as soon as I was searching for a job. I had started looking around for restaurants where I live, such as Chelos on the Water or The Trap, but I did not find a job. Once I started searching farther away from my house, I found the perfect job: Dave’s Market. Dave’s Market has a catering division that is quickly becoming more popular, so the more help they have is better. I went into

I feel that after I told my parents that I did not need them to give me money anymore, and I was going to get a job to pay for my own stuff, I matured greatly. I was able to grow more as a person because I supported myself. My parents were always there in case I could not buy something that I wanted, and for times when they wanted to buy it for me. Still when they asked me if I needed any money I could always decline because of how far I have come. Being independent makes me feel more important that I had ever felt before, and made me feel like an even greater part of my family than I had always been my entire

Becoming an adult is a momentous occasion in any young person’s life, but often it is marked by pain and hardships that push us as individuals to earn our autonomy and personal voice. There was an event in my life which pushed me to stand up to my parents and ultimately become an individual in their eyes. Life as a homeschooler was somewhat isolated until the end of my eighth-grade year. It was a damaging environment because of the constant interaction with my mother who was extremely critical and often lost her temper. The feeling that I could never please her overwhelmed me and even when I went to public school her manipulation of myself and others climaxed.…

For most students, the transition from middle school to high school is the evolution from childhood to adulthood. In my case, my middle school graduation was a quick transition for another reason. The first few months of my freshman year had my parents rushing my grandfather in and out of the hospital because of his failing heart. By this point my grandfather had battled off colon cancer, 3 heart attacks, and 2 open heart surgeries. At age 74 he was not a candidate for a heart transplant but he was able to get a defibrillator.…

Firstly developing skills are important because learning skills like how to cook or what medicine to take will play a huge role in independence; it is a part of health care, and providing food which is vital in taking care of yourself. Secondly, developing the maturity to do all of the previously said stuff is important because if you are not even mature enough to make small choices like eating right how are you going to make big adult choices like what career path to choose. Also developing maturity is important because it helps to choose which battles you are or are not going to fight. Finally, developing the strength to be alone is a important during this transition because the majority of decision making is going to be your responsibility and being independent you are most likely going to need to make all of them…

It was technically Stage 3b breast cancer, and from what I could understand, a very fast growing variety. She went through chemo treatments, then radiation, and was constantly either sleeping or sick from all the treatments. Watching her suffer was devastating.…

My personality matured to becoming independent. Furthermore, I'd rather figure every single thing out on my own, since that's the way I've grown up. I've grown up, up to this point, without my father and my mother barely around from work. Yet, no matter what, I remain thankful that they attempted to become remotely involved. I learned the world's true colors from merely glancing at the people around me.…

Independence cannot be reached right away and not everybody will become independent. When a baby is young he needs his mother to feed him, but as that baby gets older he learns to feed himself and no longer needs his mother to do that for him. When he becomes older he learns to do more and more on his own. Eventually that individual will get a job, which will show how responsible he is because being independent has to come with responsibility. In the beginning of The Glass Castle, Jeannette’s father was a good parent.…

Throughout someone’s lifespan a person can endure many trials, tests, troubles, and obstacles. I have not come across anyone who has had a perfect life, and being in the human service profession I especially do not expect to ever find someone who has. As a professional in training I understand that I will be able to someday help others through difficult times in their life like finding a new job, arranging childcare for their children, comforting someone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, or a couple seeking help with their relationship. I also understand that I will be put in the situation to help someone who has different beliefs or comes from a different culture than I have. Such as helping a homosexual individual tell his or her…
