AAU Basketball Journey

An experience to me is something that is unforgettable, that one thing that means a little extra to you and something that will have a lasting effect on you. I travel in reverse to the little girl standing in the mirror and daydreaming of one day becoming not only an amazing basketball player, but a great person in general as well. I watched and mimicked Allen Iverson on the tv to the best of my abilities as my brother did, then I grew. It all started for me at a young age and I began using my talents right from the get go. I pursued a new journey in ninth grade to better myself as an individual, and a basketball player. That journey was called AAU. AAU basketball is something that will always have a very special place in my heart. I will …show more content…
I focus a lot on school, because I know without it there 's literally nothing. Freshman year I locked in, and probably not the same what others do, or the way I should, but I started focusing on furthering my career in the sport that means most to me, basketball. Ever since I was little I 've watched people play basketball, and I always told myself, "wow I hope that I can be like that someday." But as you get older it really starts to hit you in a completely different manner. Like am I going to do this when I get older or not? So, I decided to take it to the next level and say that I was going to. Eventually, it lead to an extremely long process of figuring out how the AAU basketball (which is a spring/ summer basketball league) process worked. The hardest part was choosing an organization to play for, and I was lucky enough to find an amazing program called the Minnesota …show more content…
During my time playing AAU basketball so many memories were made. They weren 't just your typical memories though, they were memories I’ll never forget. One of my favorite memories of AAU was during my last year. We went bowling at three different bowling alleys in one day. The first bowling alley was half bowling and half laser tag. My team and another Comets team decided to play laser tag against each other, and of course my team won. As we walked over to the bowling alley, the scent of deep fried food lingered around us. Our blue mouths were filled with laughter from the slushies we ate. As I paused, I took a minute to think of how charmed I was to be enclosed by such stellar girls. As we moved on from bowling alley to bowling alley, more memories were made, giggles were shared, and time seemed as if it was standing still. It may seem like one of the most silly, and pointless things ever, but the time spent with each other was the most enjoyable moments
