Personal Narrative Essay: Baseball Is A Risky Sport

Improved Essays
It was a cool, dry morning when the team rounded up. Our coach had notified the team that we were in risk of elimination. The faces of my teammates were as hopeless a rose in a desert. As a captain, I spoke out and tried to lift our spirits with a speech. Baseball is such an unpredictable sport, I said. The time spent on the practice field was for moments like these. With our backs against the wall, we had to put up a fight against four other teams. And that was just to make it to the championship game. Not only were we the underdogs, we were the youngest team in the tournament. We won the first game, then the second; cruising through these teams were as easy as taking candy from a baby. The real challenge was yet to come. Win number three

I played sophomore baseball for Senior over the summer. It was the best season I've ever had as a Dubuque Senior High School baseball player. I was the pitcher on the team, also known as the "Ace". Before the last couple of games we had an anonymous team vote on which award people should get. At the end of the season we had a potluck with the varsity team and the sophomore team.…

Baseball was the majority of my summer weekends, and I would have it any other way. Long weekends at hotels all across the state from Battle Creek to Frankenmuth, we played baseball where ever it was to be played. But these stages could not prepare me for where I was about to play next. The University of Dayton baseball stadium, the nicest natural field I have ever played on. It was beautiful from the seats, the mound, the outfield wall, it was all gorgeous.…

For my entire life, I wanted to be a professional baseball player, until I met Franklin Mirabal. Back when I was 14, I used to be a catcher in a baseball little league team in the Dominican Republic. Like many Dominicans, I was passionate about this sport. My inspiration was Yadier Molina, a catcher that had a graceful arm and tremendous style; displaying his abilities by throwing out most of the players who tried to steal a base. No catcher in the baseball league could play the position like me, despite being only 14.…
