Anyways, we made our way to my dorm in South Quad, all the while conversing about how each other’s exams went. Finally, we made it to my dorm. I opened the door, but instead of dropping my bag and heading right out, I freeze to see a potato, and worst of all, my old AP Literature Textbook from my senior year of high school. On the 1st day of AP English class all you heard was the clock barely ticking, sweat coming off of the teacher forehead and the students taking out paper and writing utensils to take notes on what we need. What stood out was Mrs. Fantroy’s strong voice along with the books that were shown for everyone to read that semester. The books looked like they could have come from out of ancient tombs or something. She had at least two lengthy looking books. She stated, “These are just some books for you guys to read just this semester.…

One of the things that has significantly influenced my development was my Advanced Placement English Language and Composition class my junior year in high school. The class was taught by a phenomenal teacher, Mrs. Shaw, who made it virtually impossible for a student to fail the class because of her extreme dedication and amazing teaching. The class made me realize my potential as a writer. At one moment, it was a chore, something that I dreaded doing more than I dreaded washing dishes after Thanksgiving dinner. But after I completed the class, writing became something I actually looked forward to doing.…

Many of my friends recall seventh grade as a relaxed break from the now typical hectic high school experience; however, whenever I think back to my time in seventh grade I get a nasty knot in my stomach. As I ponder every class, I skip over one in particular, English class. Not that I did poorly in that one class, but for most of the year I was incredibly lonely. English class was my second class of the day on my first day of school, and as I walked into my class I had a tremendous smile on my face awaiting what was ahead because I was looking forward to seeing my new teachers and classmates. As everyone sat down in their seats, I realized that I was sitting at a table with what looked like strangers and that I had absolutely nobody I knew…
