It was May 10th, 2013 and I was pumped and ready to go the official says runners to your marks and I get into the blocks knowing this would be the most important race I would ever run in. Running in the farthest outside lane with the fastest time in the state all my nerves are gone. I get in the blocks then the loud bang of the gun sounds and I take off. "Bang-bang" first thing that comes to mind was please don’t let it be me. Everyone who knows about track knows that when you hear the gun go off twice then someone has false started and everyone was looking at me. The nerves are back on. So many thoughts were going through my head at that moment and this track meet having college coaches there watching me didn’t make it any better. I was thinking …show more content…
We had just ran an outstanding race and were currently the fastest 4x100 meter relay team in the state of Texas for high school allowing us to run in the state track meet. I had a lot of weight on my shoulders because I was the youngest on the relay only being a junior and I was the starter of the relay and there really was no room for error for me. Practice was the hardest it has ever been, it was pretty much college track and field intensity because my coach wanted us on another level and was determined to get us there before the Saturday, which was the day of the big track meet. This week was very eventful and was hard to maintain my focus on just the track meet, I had to balance my focus between the track meet my school work and getting everything ready for prom. This was by far the hardest week of my high school years but this is what I signed up for when I decided to be a student athlete. Well sooner than later it was finally track meet …show more content…
We did several handoffs, runs and drills to get us ready and out of nowhere I feel a jolt in my leg during one of the handoffs. I immediately fall to the ground grabbing for my leg knowing this could not be good. I knew this wasn’t a cramp I was really in pain on the day of the biggest track me of my life at the time. I went to the trainers at my school got ice and stretched out and headed out with the mindset of “I have to run, I can’t let my team down they need me”. We get to the University of Texas where the meet was held and I stretch and watch while my team and coach do more handoffs pre-race. As they finish up my coach immediately tells us to check in and I’m running on my leg to make sure I was good to go. I felt great, maybe it was the adrenaline in me that made me feel this way but I wasn’t going to complain.it was going by pretty fast reason being because we had college officials running the meet. Now it’s time to run, and I get in the blocks. With the given commands “runners on your marks, set...” then the gun sounds and I shoot out like a rubber

I sprinted out of the “run out” section, and this is when I could feel the muscle fibers in my quadriceps contract. When I looked down at my legs, it resembled something out of a science fiction movie. There appeared to be something sticking out and moving around at the anterior of both quadriceps. The muscle fibers tightened in the same local area of both legs. It was extremely painful!…
